The Crucible

The Crucible is a historical story based pretty much on the Salem witchcraft trials,it takes place in a small little Puritan village in Massachussetts in 1692.The story starts in Reverend Samuel Parrus home.He has a daughter who lives in the home who lays ill.Parris lives with his daughter and his niece Abigail Williams who is 17 years old.Abigail Williams is an orphan,because her parents' were murdered by Indians and she saw them kill her parents. Betty Putnam became ill when they found her dancing in the woods with Tituba,Abigail and several other girls from the village.All the people in the village made a rumor that Betty's illness was from witchcraft ,but Parris told Abigail that she cannot admit that he found his daughters and niece in the forest dancing like heathens.Abigail says that she will admit to dancing and accept the harsh punishment,though she will not admit about witchcraft. Thomas Putnam and Ann Putnam the parents of Ruth arrives to tell Parris that she is sick.Ann Putnam said that she took Ruth to Tituba,because Tituba knows how to speak to the dead and she could find out who murdered her children,all of her seven children died as babies. After the adults are gone.Abigail begins to talk about Betty's illness with Mary Warren Mercy Lewis.Abigail threatened them and told them not to say anything more than they just danced and that Tituba conjured Ruth's sister.John Proctor finally comes home to find mary and tell her to go home.He finally talks to Abigail and she admitted to dancing. Now Reverend John Hale comes over from Beverly.A smart man for precise signs of the supernatural.Parris just tells him about the dancing and the conjuring,while Gile Corey...
