The world is an unknown place full of unknown possibilities and choices to you choose to make, whether they affect you in a positive or negative way. I stand by three quotes that represent me and what I live by. 1) “Our lives are a sum total of the choices we have made.” –Wayne Dyer 2) “Don’t let yesterday take up to much of today.” Unknown 3) “Life is 10 percent what you make it, and 90 percent how you take it.” - Irving Berlin.
“Our lives are a sum total of the choices we have made.” –Wayne Dyer. I live by this every day. I strongly believe choices are a strong sense of reality. If you make a wrong choice it comes with consequences. Sometimes the choices are hard to escape, but with these choices can come a lesson or unfortunately a negative outcome. But if you are able to learn from your mistakes and grow from them then you have already tackled the hard part. Sometimes choices can be hard to accept, but you never want them to overcome you. Choices turn into mistakes and like I said before you can choose to learn and grow from them or run from them the choice is always up to you. “Don’t let yesterday take up to much of today.” –Unknown. This applies to many of the situations I encounter every day. When you worry too much about your past, you tend to forget what you have in front of you, whether it is an opportunity or a challenge. Living in your past tends to create more challenges. Choosing to learn from your past and move on is the best thing you could do. I believe overall this quote can be applied to anyone. You should always learn from your past, live in the present, and prepare for future. “Life is 10% of what you make it and 90% how you take it.” –Irving Berlin. This is the best quote to represent me as a person. Life is all about how you see it and then how you take it. Everything you choose to do or look at is perceived in your own way. Just like happiness is all up to you. No one can decide your happiness for you and

Have you ever wondered where you would be if you would have chosen another path? Have you ever wondered how that choice could have changed your life if you would have made it? Often I look back and think about my past and look at the places I have been and the things I have done. Some things I’m not proud of. Some of those things bring back vague memories. Whether they are good or bad they still come back to me. Everything we do is based upon choices. After we make those choices there comes consequences. We can never decide our consequences, they just come.…

For me Dan Lewis's view of "life being a smorgasbord" does apply. Life's is like a food buffet with many experiences, some you may like and some you may not but that's okay because you will try them all anyway. When you look at your life you should think of where you are now, where your going and your accomplishments. An example of my life beiong a smorgasbord is when my 7-year-old twin brothers were born. They had been through multiple heart surgeries, many months in Dayton Childrens and still to this day are fully functioning. They were born with chagre syndrom. You go to bed on eday thinking everything is okay, your life is on track and it'll all be thge same tommorrow, the next day and the day after that, but then you wake up and youre…

Therefore, this hackneyed statement devalues beneficial statements like the motto used by the Traveling Symphony, “Survival is Insufficient.” The versatility of this quote is abounding. In all facets of life, this quote can be applied. According to this statement, the stagnancy of life should not be endured, it should be used as motivation to project the best possible versions of ourselves. Whatever we may find ourselves partaking in, this quote reminds us to find the courage within ourselves to contribute to something in the best conceivable way. This quote also stresses the importance of finding your personal calling. Whether it be a ditch digger or leading a Fortune 500 company, this quote empowers everyone to make the most of themselves. In the age of tolerance, we find ourselves suppressing our true feelings and desires. The insufficiency of this existence is not what we were made to do. We are supposed to trail blaze new paths and constantly reinvigorate ourselves to make our university, our town, our state, our nation, our world the best it can possibly…

The person I was in the early ages had very low amounts of people to depend on for help, needing someone to talk to, and friends were all running low. Eventually, as the years passed I ran along a bunch of friends, new family members, I saw my soccer ball as a friend and not as an object, my family started to reunite once again, and then that special someone came along. The quote says, “That seems to be the way of things. Everyone takes, everyone gives. Life is like that.” at this point Siddhartha is talking to the merchant; apparently the merchant lives off of the goods of others and Siddhartha believes that is basically what life really is. The second quote I chose was written by Hesse, “You have chosen a splendid life…” this part of the book Siddhartha is talking to the Ferryman about how he chose a wonderful life living by the river. Furthermore, I chose this quote that represented me because I really do not regret anything I have done in order to be the person I am now; I love the life I live no matter what anybody says because I worked hard to be…

L.M. Montgomery once said “We pay a price for everything we get or take in this world.” I think his idea of this is right. In order for you to accomplish what you want, there will be consequences and you need to get through it. I agree with this quote because it doesn't matter what you want to accomplish there will always be an outcome whether it’s good or bad. There are a lot of books that relate to this quote. One of them being, Of Mice and Men by John Steinbeck and another called The Miracle Worker by William Gibson. Both Of Mice and Men and The Miracle Worker relate to this quote because they both experience and undergo situations and display actions that lead them to pay a price whether they caused it on themselves or not.…

In order to live deliberately, we must be able to enlighten our minds and open our hearts to ideas that are different from our own. In Thoreau’s journal entries, he says, “cultivate the tree which you have found to bear fruit in your soil.” To me, the soil symbolizes the human essence, the tree symbolizes the opportunities we receive, and the fruit symbolizes the great actions that a person has done with the opportunities brought to them. When it comes to personal successes, we must be able to move forward at a constant rate. When we look back at all of our past failures or triumphs, we inhibit our ability to live in the now.…

Choices shape our lives in many ways. It is impossible to go through life without making any. What we choose can define us, can close off a part of our life that, had we chosen differently, could have led to something completely different. Many things can influence our choices, from morals, to peers, to experience.…

My connections look at how certain choices can affect your life forever. The texts that I used to convey this link were The Kite Runner by Khaled Hosseini, Slumdog Millionaire directed by Danny Boyle, The Shawshank Redemption directed by Frank Darabont and a poem by Robert Frost called The Road Not Taken. Throughout the texts used we learn that you cannot always see the outcome of a particular choice unless you choose to go down that path. An important decision is made by the main character(s) in each text and they suggest that not all choices are easy to make and can have positive and negative consequences.…

Decisions are just a part of life that we all participate in; all those silly little decisions that we make affect not only our life but the lives of those around us. When we are making some of those decisions we don't even consider that they could cause our lives to self destruct. In the moment they seem so simple and insignificant. Those simple decisions have a greater power than we could have ever imagined. They have the power turn the tide and make waves in our life; throwing us off course to another destiny.…

In my life there has been choices that I had no control over and that is life, we just have to learn from the choices that we have made and move on from them. Although, there has been and there will choices that I will have control over and I hope that I will be able to learn from those choices, whether they are good or bad; I hope to take away a message from the choices I make. I thank God everyday that I am alive because I am aware that…

    Making Good Choices.

Making choices can affect any and everything in your life whether it’s dealing with your family or just everyday situations. Everyone in life is faced with good and bad choices that can either have a good outcome on your life or it can make a turn for the worst. Yes, everyone wants to make good choices in life. But does that always happen? Nine times out of ten know. Recently, I made a bad choice that affected my life in numerous ways for instance when I got caught shoplifting my parents looked down on me as if I was this thief. I’m very embarrassed of my actions but there’s nothing I can do to erase it I can only make this a learning experience and make better choices next time around. As teenagers were often expected to make the right choices but we never really evaluate the good and bad in anything. We just do things in the moment then look back after it already has affected us and we wish we would have evaluated the negative and the positives of the decisions we have made. Often times I like to quote from an unknown source: "A smart man learns from his own mistakes, but a wise man learns from others mistakes." I believe one does not have to make all the mistakes possible before learning that some choices are better left unchosen. There are some addictions, for example, that require only a short term exposure to them and you are "hooked" and it becomes extremely hard to free yourself from this physical enslavement. I feel that once a person constantly makes good choices, he then realizes that it just makes sense to stay on that path. I have never known a person who was happy about being a "slave" to a bad habit. There are so many positive things in life to be experienced, why limit yourself by letting bad life choices hold you back from achieving your full potential? You can never feel really good about doing a bad thing. Have you ever regretted anything? I think we all have. It is hard not to, it seems at times it can be…
