Mutual Fund Research/Analysis Paper
1. Choose one mutual fund that has been in your portfolio that has been in existence for several years.
2. A good analysis will use many sources. At least 8 sources must be cited within the paper; to include your fund’s prospectus and annual report. Text books do not count toward your total.
3. Fill out the charts on the following pages and answer the questions at the bottom of the charts. All writing must be original; limit the use of direct quotations. Answers for each chart will vary from one to two paragraphs to one to two pages.
4. For the comparison chart, find a comparable fund based on objective, fund size, and class of shares and compare the two funds on the attached comparison chart. The comparison fund should be similar to your fund. It cannot be a different class of shares of the same fund. There are several websites that will help you find a comparable fund. Make sure that both funds are at least several years old.
5. As this is a research paper, in-text citations are expected with a complete bibliography on the last pages. Use APA format.
6. When completed, the paper must be submitted to Turnitin.com and a copy of page 1 of the originality report is to be attached to the back of this paper. Papers will not be graded without the receipt attached.
7. The following rubric will be used to grade your paper. Negative points may be awarded for very poor work. Possible Awarded
