LM1a- Understand How to Manage a Team
1.1 Define the key features of effective team performance

The following couple of pages I will be explaining the characteristics of an effective team and how as a line manager I incorporate this in my work environment. As you go through this piece of work you will see that I used different colours
Bold witting is how I incorporate in my work practises
Coloured is a relative account on how I incorporate all on a daily basis and the situations I have been in relevant

1) There is a clear unity of purpose where team members share a sense of purpose and common goals, and each team member is willing to work to achieve these goals.
As a line manager it is my job to supervise the staff and arrange supervisions with my allocated staff to discuss their work performances and set them goals to in developing their skills and understanding their job role.
Recently I have done a supervision which I set goals to a staff member to make sure that she understands her job role and the expectations of a care assistant. I also highlighted the concerns that I have and also her colleagues have about her not prioritising the task set and that she is not completing the task delegated to her. I also highlighted how it is important to communicate to her line manager so that we can support her

2) The team is self- conscious about its own operations and is aware of and interested in its own processes
As a line manager I make sure that each staff member is delegated with a task within their capability.
Before each shift starts it is my job to make sure that all staff are aware of their delegation of the work load of that day. This is classed as a handover, which incorporates the following procedures.
a) Firstly I would go through any relevant information regarding the residents and their well being
b) There is a daily allocation form which is usually completed by the previous Care Team Manager (CTM). This show where staff is

An effective team will always consist of certain features enabling effective team performance. Some of these features are as follows; develop goals and plans, i.e. an effective team will always devise a development or goal plan, which will describe the specific purpose for the team.
