What are your roles, responsibilities and relationships of a
Social purpose educator in your chosen teaching context?

1.1 Explain the teaching role and responsibilities in education and training.
I teach as a hair and makeup artistry to my students. The very first thing this I always follow health and safety for both myself and the students. Never put them in danger and strict confidentiality rules are to be followed by myself, keeping my relationships with students and also colleagues positive and collaborative. If I felt they were in danger or their were any sensitive issues it would be my duty to put them in contact with the correct sources of help and support.
As a teacher my role should be to teach students in a way where they engage and I motivate them, encourage positive learning behaviour and teach with full enthuasiasm. This may require me to adapt my teaching styles and techniques so that I meet the learners individual needs.
Always acting professionally and helping students reach their full potential is my responsibility as a teacher at all times. I need to have skills to effectively plan and deliver inclusive learning, promoting equality and diversity. This can be done by using different teaching methods such as group discussions, demonstrations or asking questions. I need to be able to identify the learners needs by doing an initial assessment which in turn will help me identify the needs of the learners and advise them of the appropriate support available. This could be referring them for study skill support, or help with exam support etc.
Planning my own teaching effectively is very important, not making the student feel surprised by offering them unrealistic teaching material and equally making sure that the learning styles are appropriate to the learners need. Continually assessing my own skills and teaching stlyes and assessing throughout the course delivery how the course is going will help me better myself as a teacher. I need to assess my course delivery and how its affected the learners overall by doing an end course evaluation where the students give their feedback about their whole learning experience on the course.

1.2 Summarise key aspects of legislation, regulatory requirements and codes of practice relating to own role and responsibilities

There are many codes of practice that can affect learners and their experience in a class. For example there may be essays student need to complete and need access to a computer. You as a tutor need to make this possible by arranging a library and IT tour and set aside time for the students to complete their given task. Also their may be policies in place where certain material cannot be accessed from your centre so make sue this material is available as a printed format if it is part of a requirement to complete the given task.
The Equalities Act 1998 protects individuals from unfair treatment and promotes a fair and equal society. The act incorporates equal pay, sex discrimination, race and disability, employment opportunities religion, belief or sexual orientation and age equality.

The Freedom of Information Act creates a statutory right for access to information in relation to bodies that exercise functions of a public nature, three different kinds of bodies are covered under the act. Public Authorities, publicly owned companies and designated bodies performing public functions.

The Data Protection Act controls how your personal information is used by organisations, businesses or the government.
Everyone responsible for using data has to follow strict rules called ‘data protection principles’. They must make sure the information is: used fairly and lawfully used for limited, specifically stated purposes used in a way that is adequate, relevant and not excessive accurate kept for no longer than is absolutely necessary handled according to people’s data protection rights kept safe and secure not transferred outside the UK without adequate protection
There is stronger legal protection for more sensitive information, such as: ethnic background political opinions religious beliefs health sexual health criminal records

The Health and Safety at Work etc Act 1974, which places general duties on employers, employees and the self employed. The basic idea is that the premises, equipment, and practices, whilst people are affected by your work activities, are as safe as reasonably practicable.
