People’s lifestyles have improved and the way parents take care of their children has changed, too. In my opinion, parents today do not pay as much attention to their children as parents did in the past.

Firstly, the increasing economic pressure has somehow forced both parents to work. In the past, the responsibility of one of the parents was to make money, while the other would take care of the children all the time. However, since both parents need to work nowadays, they do not have enough time to be with their kids. As a result, instead of caring for their children, parents are now hiring babysitters to look after them. Moreover, many parents even have no time to neither prepare breakfast and dinner nor eat with their children. For this reason, parents choose to just give the kids some money so that they can buy their meals.

Secondly, the competition in school among children’s peers is more serious than ever. In the past, children always went home after school and their parents would help them do the homework. In addition, children could enjoy their weekends and do some outdoor activities with their parents. However, parents today really worry about their children’s grades at school, so they choose to send the kids to cram schools to learn or improve skills in music, painting, chess, and so on. As a consequence, youngsters are having very little company from their parents, even in weekends.

In conclusion, modern lifestyles have caused parents to spend less time with their children, and parents tend to employ babysitters or instructors to accompany and guide their children.
