CHAPTER 1. RATIONAL FOR THE STUDY
Employees are the important assets of any organization. Unlike other resources, human resource (employees) have unlimited potential capabilities and it is one of the most dynamic resources. It is important to ensure that the employees are developed and retained in the organization. Retention can be done by creating a climate that can continuously identify, bring to surface, nurture and use the capabilities of people.

Every person is unique & has different needs. If we could find out their needs and make efforts to fulfill those needs, we can make the organization the best place to work. This will definitely help in retaining the talent.

To ensure that employees stay with the organization, it is important to understand what motivates them and what makes them look for other options. In this context, it is important to do analyze the reasons why the talent leave the organization.

2.1 Title of the study
Attrition rate in IT BPO Industry.

2.2 Objective of the study
To study the attrition rate in the IT BPO industry in Mumbai. To investigate the methods used by companies to measure attrition. To understand the efforts taken by companies to control attrition.

2.3 Scope of study
The study provides an opportunity to understand attrition and its reasons, based on survey of the HR department in the IT BPO industry.
