Then answer the following questions. Be sure to carefully read and fully answer each question; some questions contain multiple components. Demonstrate critical thinking and effort in your answers. Write clearly; complete sentences, accurate spelling, and proper grammar and punctuation are expected. 1. Overall, how have your health behaviors changed over the course of the term – between the first week and now? Discuss the progress you’ve made toward a healthier lifestyle. (Note: simply saying that you get more exercise and sleep and/or eat better is not sufficient; be specific.) Alternately, if your behavior hasn’t changed, consider and discuss why. There are many topics that are related to health and wellness making it hard to complete an observation on a single one. After much thought, the topic that interested me most was sleep. As humans, sleep is essential to our well-being. It is required in order for us to function. A human will die after 11 days of no sleep. The importance of sleep can never be stressed enough. With our hectic life styles, one does not really pay attention to how much sleep they get. Most people are running on less than 7 hours of sleep every day. This is unhealthy and affects our health and wellness. However, people do not think of it in this aspect because they function just fine every day; all they need is some coffee or energy drink. What they do not realize is that the coffee and energy drinks are what are keeping their body function because of the sugar and caffeine entering the blood stream. Without these added substances, the body would crash much earlier in the day. As young adults, our body is able to withstand much of the damage we do to it because it is able to renew its cells much faster than those of older people. The majority of young adults tend to “catch up” on their sleep over the weekend. Little do they know that this does not help the body as much as maintaining a regular sleeping schedule does. As we get older, our body requires more rest and relaxation in order for us to maintain a healthy body. Seeing that I could not really observe a program associated with sleep, the decision was made to watch an online health video called “Sleeping well as we age” by Rachel Manber, a PhD professor of Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences at Stanford Medical School.…

Overall I have enjoyed every aspect of this class. However, I must say that I enjoyed the healthy eating plan assignment. This assignment gave me an overview of my eating habits as a whole. Having to put everything on paper enabled me to acknowledge a change was needed and where the change was needed. Prior to composing a healthy eating plan, I was never equipped with the knowledge to know there were nutrients missing from my daily diet. This particular assignment showed me that I wasn’t absorbing enough fiber daily and that I needed to consume more whole grains, fruits and green vegetables. I’ve also learned that a combination of good nutrition and regular exercise together will assist me in maintaining good health. I also understand the importance of eating a well balanced meal to ensure the recommended amount of daily nutrients is being met.…

Sulla was a Roman General, who also held the position of counsel twice. For a short period of time, he was also considered to be a dictator. He worked side by side with a Spartan General and strategist named Lysander. He passed a series of new reforms to try to regain a balance of power between the senate and tribunes. He shocked the Roman Empire when he resigned as dictator and restored the constitutional government. He was born in Rome in 138 BC; and spent most of his childhood surrounded by comics, dancers, actors, and musicians. Sulla was well educated and intelligent and learned to be fluent in Greek. One of Sulla first accomplishments was the capture of Jugurtha of Numidia, where he convinced the King's father-in-law to betray him. In his first march on Rome Sulla was in the position of counsel as he appointed by the senate. Marius, who Sulla had helped led Rome up to this point in time still wanted to lead Rome, but was too old. Therefore, when Sulla left to fight against Nola, Marius stayed behind still seeking power. He found an ally in Sulpicius and promised to wipe out his debts he would help overturn the senate's decision to give power to Sulla. Once Sulla heard the news of the betrayal, he informed his soldiers of the situation and they turned and began their march on Rome. Sulla ran through the walls of Rome and his soldiers overpowered the Gladiators as he angrily addressed the senate. He took care of Marius and regained proper power to the Senate before he turned his attention back to fighting Mithridate in Pontus. With Sulla once again out of Rome Marius plotted his return forming an alliance with China. He returned and took control of Rome in 87 BC, but shortly after died leaving China in full control of Rome. In his takeover of Athens Sulla wanted to take control of the port to cut off supplies to Athens. He then patiently waited outside the walls, as the city grew hungry…

Research has shown that one of the most effective means of communication is to not only make social and cultural pushes for change but to “find ways of reaching out to marginalized groups,” (Duta-Bergman, 2009). By doing this, a campaign is able to help these groups feel that they have their own choices to make all based on their own self-understanding. For health campaigns, the limit is not simply put to reaching to marginalized groups for an effective means of communication. The Health Communication Unite at the Canter for Health Promotion University of Toronto provided a 12-step process and program for designing a comprehensive communication campaign, of which the ideas of how to effectively inform and call to action the general public on important health issues that they are facing. Some of these steps include: “are goal-oriented attempts to inform, persuade or motivate behavior change,” “are most effective when they include a combination of media, interpersonal, and community events,” or “involve an organized set of communication activities,” (Health Communication Unit, 2007). All of these steps seem to work under a unified premise: an effective communication campaign must be straightforward, positive, and make the targeted audience want to get involved.…
