MLK Good Speaker

Throughout history many great men and women have gained power through the ability to be a good communicator and a good speaker. The ability to be a great speaker is driven from certain traits that a man or woman possess when giving a speech to an audience. When I think of a great speaker I think of somebody who is able to clearly and powerfully get their message across to an audience. I believe that for many people, a great speaker is also someone that is able to connect with an audience, and allow the audience to relate back to the speaker. However, just being a great speaker does not mean the individual is carrying the right message. There is plenty of power to be gained from being able to sway an audience into getting behind your message. As evidenced by Adolf Hitler, you may have the ability to be a great speaker and persuade people even if your message is an atrocity. All of these things lead me to believe that one of the greatest speakers of the last century would be Martin Luther King Jr. Martin Luther King Jr. was born on January 15, 1929, in Atlanta, Georgia. Before he became a main figure-head in the civil rights movement, King was a Baptist minister. King is somebody I believe carries all the traits that makes someone a great speaker. He stood behind a just cause, and was able to bring issues of a whole nation to light with his great communicational skills. King's speeches were powerful, and they built an audience up until they felt the same power and emotion that King felt while he was giving the speech. This is one of the main things that I believe made King into the figure-head he is today, the ability to relate to the audience and make sure that they felt the same emotion that he was feeling. Even at a time when African-Americans were mistreated, and looked at as being of lesser-worth, Kings great speaking abilities allowed him to rise and be heard.
