The political arena has a huge influence upon the regulation of public and private sector businesses, and the spending power of consumers and other businesses.
1) Employment laws: employment rate was 74.9 % which goes to prove the effectiveness of the employment law
2) Political stability: increased FDI inflow of $1.5 trillion as on 2004 shows the political stability. FDI can increase only when the government has been stable and its policies have more feasible trade regulations and tariffs.
3) Environmental regulations: Public utilities like electricity are state owned

All businesses are affected by economical factors nationally and globally. Whether an economy is in a boom, recession or recovery will also affect consumer confidence and behavior. This will impact upon the nature of the competition faced by the industry. Economic factors affect the purchasing power of potential customers, and the state of the internal/external economy in the short and long-term.
