Iron Man, Ant-Man, Wasp, Hulk, Thor and Captain America, Earth's mightiest heroes. These super heroes made the team called The Avengers that was a Marvel Comic first released in September 1963.

With a theme that the Avengers fight foes that no single superhero can withstand, creaters Stan Lee and Jack Kirkby started a new craze in the 60's that is still very popular to this day. The comic has a total of 402 issues that are now considered very valuble. Many crazed fans spend thousands of rands buying original copies of the magazines, some are even kept in their original packaging. It is said that some of the origianal copies are worth hundreds of dollars.

The comic was so popular that in 2010 an animated series, "The Avengers: Earth's Mightiest Heroes" was released. Using plots from the original comic as well as adding new super heroes the cartoon was a great sucess not only with children but with older fans alike. The show has run for two season and in 2012 has inspired the creation of an Avengers movie.

The release of the movie at the end of April had fans excitedly talking for months. The cast included Robert Downey Jr. playing the notorious Tony Stark along side Samuel L. Jackson, Scarlett Johanson, Chris Evans and Chris Hemsworth to name a few. With typical Avengers style the movie included heart racing action, an intriguing plot, humour and ofcourse the future of the world lying within the teams hands. The movie released in 3-D had gross a total of 125 million dollars in its opening weekend.

If you havn't watch it yet i suggest you do as it has a rating of 8,8 out of ten and for those fans that enjoyed it you'll be happy to know that a sequel is coming.
