Dear Beth,

Libraries are very important in the life of all people. We can't buy all the books we want to read. That's why we take out books from libraries.

A lot of people go to libraries on Saturdays. They have some time to spare, because Saturday is a day off. They bring their books to the library and go home taking new books.

The librarians take books from the people who come in and give them some new books to choose for reading at home.

Speaking about libraries it is necessary to admit that Moscow holds the first place among all the other cities of the world for the number of its libraries. The largest library in the world is the State Lenin Library with an overall fund of 21 million various titles in 166 languages.

I enjoy reading books. And it doesn't matter what kind of book it is. It can be a collection of short stories, a book of poems or adventures. I equally enjoy them all. But there's one thing that matters. When I choose a book for reading, it shouldn't be dull but interesting.

I used to get some of my books from my school library. I must admit our school library had a good stock of books and the librarian was always ready to help in everybodies choice of books. A great number of volumes filled the shelves. One could find there books of adventure stories, historical novels and tales that opened up panoramas of life and history of other countries, psychological novels, collections of short stories, the immortal classics.

Though I attend libraries on a regular basis, I buy quite a lot of books too, particularly those that I read before and enjoyed reading. I like to have them in my room so that I can turn to them not only once but time and again» I derive an utmost pleasure from sitting in the room where my books are and even if I am not reading them, I like to look at the books on the shelves and to feel that I have my friends around me, friends that will never let you down, that will never betray

Reading is my life. It’s my escape from the world around me. I love getting lost in a story about monsters and myths, or a Cinderella gone wrong. If I didn’t draw as much as I did, I’d probably be the anti-social bookworm in the back, like in all those cliche teenage love stories. It’s actually quite surprising to see how many people dislike books, there’s nothing wrong with a little reading every once and awhile. But who am I to judge? I wasn’t a very big reader myself until maybe two years ago. Of course, that leads to the first reason why I enjoy reading so much.…

As my first grade teacher rolls the giant TV station into my class, a majority of my fellow classmates let out an over exaggerated sigh. The lights shut and the screen flicks on, filling the room with the outdated theme song to Reading Rainbow, beginning the reading lesson for the day. From despising Reading Rainbow and getting my first Junie B. Jones book to reading The Catcher in the Rye and Fahrenheit 451, my love for reading has grown to the point of wanting to own a library that one would see on pinterest when looking for cute bookshelf ideas.…

The libraries has been forced to close. The government barbaric public libraries, and not everyone has internet access in modern society (“we still need libraries in the digital age”,p.1). Tony Max claimed “allowed a public library in almost every neighborhood; oasis where people could learn, improve themselves…that grand tradition continuos today”. Marx also implies, “ public libraries in this country have provided all members of the public with free access”. On the other hand, McTernan confirms, “ Most classic books are available for free from Project Gutenberg or for a small charge on Kindle”. (“don’t mourn the loss of libraries”,p.3). However, the internet can’t take over vital role of libraries, and people still…

Books are an extraordinary thing. They are one of the closest things to a time machine as they can take you essentially anywhere in your mind. For many people, books are like a friend. As a young child, I was always aware of books and the difference between books for children and books for adults. I would not say that I grew up in a family of devout readers, but I did grow up in a family of individuals who appreciated the value of books. Although my parents never seemed to have time to simply sit and read frequently, my mother had engaged with college-level texts in her adulthood, and both of my parents saw the benefit of exposing my sister and me to books at an early age. There was always a bookshelf in my house packed full of textbooks and enormous tomes with dusty, creased spines. We also had a full set of the Encyclopedia Britannica (which I recently found out is going out of print). It would be an exaggeration to say that these books intrigued me because they represented knowledge. However, they intrigued me because although they sat there and collected dust for years, my mother refused to throw them away. It was impressed upon me very early on that books were important, and that throwing them away was wrong. I did not get it completely at that point, especially because those books were incomprehensible to a four or five year old, but I understood that it was something that would be important when I was older.…

The reason of this is these books can make me keep focusing on reading. Looking back these days, I am impressed by how much benefits I earned from reading. I feel like reading helps me get ahead of others, and I guess this is why I still like reading in nowadays.…

Books have been a part of my life for a long time. My grandparents would make me read to pass the time when I would stay over with them. All throughout middle school we were required to meet a certain minimum reading quota per semester. Initially this gave me sort of a reluctant outlook on books. When I got to Highschool books were practically a foreign entity. During my senior year this changed drastically. I was introduced to books I cared about and found interesting.…

By semi-regularly, I mean whenever I wanted to get some new books. This was a great thing, as I could check out books that I did not own without having to have them be bought for me. The library really mystified me at a young age, as I was just amazed by the sheer amount of books that they had to offer. However, I was more mystified by something else that the library had. I recall that the library (monthly or bi-monthly or something) would have these sales. In these sales, they would sell away old books (usually paperbacks) that were too worn for regular library use. These books could be purchased very cheaply, as if they did not sell during these sales, they would just be thrown out. I acquired many of my books here. Most of the books that I did acquire from these sales were novels that I got near the end of elementary school. But, I did get a decent amount before I went into elementary school. While my parents normally took me to these sales, it was my grandmother who introduced me to them. Without her introducing me to them, I would have never hounded my parents to actually take…
