midterm evaluation essay
Active participation is a critical element to learning in the every classroom. Traditional classroom participation is expected of all students. It does not matter if you answer a question correctly or incorrectly, share great wisdom or none at all, raise an insightful objection or join in heartfelt acclamation of the obvious, thoughtful classroom participation is always encouraged. Class participation is important for several reasons. Participating will help teach a person to work with others and as a team player. Also, by participating the person can learn more and understand more details about what they are doing. I myself have had a few days absent, but when I was not present on a day of class I did inquire about what I missed from the teacher. At this time in the semester I am missing two different molecules from my writing lab and an exercise from chapter twelve in my English book. There is one area I would like to improve on in the second half of the semester and that is my test scores. I have always had low test scores .Every time I take a test I score low, because I get so nervous
I have never thought of myself has a good writer it has always been my least favorite class and I always dreaded going to English class. So it is hard for me to admit that this semester English class is actually one of my favorite classes. I have completed every writing assignment on time that has been assigned receiving an A on each one of them. I find the brain storming process the most difficult. Thinking about the process ahead of time can help make your first draft more concise and complete, but it is the hardest to me. I find it easier when I just start writing. When I sit and think about it for too long it seems like I cannot get the words to come out. The process in writing that I like the most is the revising of the rough draft to the complete final copy. It reminds me of watching your baby grow up or watching a seed you planted turn into a beautiful flower. It

My writing process is usually all over the place, I have to be in my room with my door shut, my music on, my fan on, and my television on, weird, I know, but that is what I have to do in order to keep myself concentrated. After I am all situated I begin by writing down different ideas on a couple sheets of paper, listing ways I could support this idea and how it relates to my topic, sometimes when I am stuck I look up sample essays online to help me out of my rut. Once I finally choose an idea I start writing the first things that pop into my head down on another sheet of paper, it usually ends up being a jumbled mess that only I can understand. After all of my ideas are laid out onto the paper I begin placing numbers beside them so I know…

My writing process all depends on what I am writing. Some writings I can sit down and write the whole things and be done with it, while others can take me multiple days or even weeks. I normally sit down and work on it until I finish, get tired of it, or a hit a roadblock. I try to stop when I feel like I am writing the same thing over and over or if I feel like I just need a break. Most of the time, if I feel like I am writing and it is really bad, it is because it is and I need to take a break and come back to it later. Working on it in pieces normally works well for me, to break it up and take it a little bit at a time. I normally struggle when I do not like what I am writing about or when I run out of information to put in my writing. I…

Women are known to be great fans of shoes. At last count, Philippine Politician Imelda Marcos had over 2,500 pairs of shoes. Although Mrs. Marcos’ love for shoes is extreme, it is a very good example of how women love their shoes. Since most women have about one percent of the money Mrs. Marcos’ has, they must deal with enjoying their measly fifteen or twenty pair of shoes. One desire a woman of Imelda’s wealth and most other women share is quality. Some shoes are bought at big name stores like Dillard’s, Macy’s or Shoe Warehouse but some women have found that the Payless Shoe Store shoes have lasted just as the long. Over the years, the pumps, boots and sneakers purchased from Payless Shoes has made women just as happy as the major retail stores.…

The best participation grades will go to those who consistently demonstrate an excellent command of the material; who volunteer to participate frequently; who respond to my questions accurately; who comment thoughtfully, and who make insightful connections between the course materials and our world, including issues and ideas raised in other courses. Simply attending class without active, intelligent participation, as defined above, will yield a C- for participation. If you plan to miss class, you must let me know the reason before class by email. Failure to do so will lower your participation grade. So will more than four absences. More than seven absences will lead to a failing grade for the…

After analyzing Edwin W. Koc’s article, “The Myth of the Millennials,” he demonstrates disbelief that millennial students are more than “self-indulgent, entitled, and dependent as adults and employees.” His point specifies that millennial parents emphasize their children’s needs first by often working more than one job, these millennial parents ensured that their children could engage in their individual desires. However, instead of helping them, millennial students and workers grow up with a false notion of reality; they erroneously believe that life is all about them, which creates problems in the workplace. The only way to make a more educated hypothesis regarding whether or not the work-life balance or the helicopter parents are legends or real, is to conduct more extensive studies on a much broader platform. To better understand Millennials students and employees, one must understand what drives them to succeed perhaps it's easiest to understand who they are not.…

Out of all the steps in my writing process, I believe prewriting was the most helpful. In prewriting you’re supposed to let your thoughts flow without stopping and making changes. So because I didn’t take the time to stress on proper grammar and more, I was able to start my first draft faster. Prewriting also helped me narrow what I wrote into groups, in this case the importance of rice in my family. Not only did prewriting help me narrow my writing into groups, but it also helped me, who was struggling, to find topics to talk about.…

Writing has never been easy for me. In school, I have always had good grades. Some subjects came naturally like biology, history, and even math. Over time I have learned, that writing is a process. It takes patience and skill. The key topic I have learned that plays a huge role in the writing process is confidence. When writers are confident about their piece and they really love the way it has turned out, then it shows through the entire paper. I always tell my dance students that if they show the audience how much they love dancing, then more people will want to watch them. And I think the same goes for…

My writing process has always been a frustrating one. I like writing, but I don't think I'm very good at it. When I was younger, I loved letting my creative side shine by writing silly stories and pretending I was Stephen King, using words that I didn't even understand. My dad read me Shel Silverstein's books of poems and and drawings. Those books inspired me so much to write and to draw and be creative on a blank sheet of paper.…

My Writing Process Writing is a process that came about because people believed that it was critical to record what was happening and being created at that time. Many people view writing as a formal and elaborate form of communication, when in reality, writing is just an extended form of speech. The stance I take on my writing is that when someone else reads my work they should hear my voice and envision me reading the paper to them. Because of the philosophy I have on writing, I avoid the formal process that includes 13 multi-layered steps.…

Successful students get involved in their studies, accept responsibility for their own education, and are active participants in it! Responsibility is the difference between leading and being led. Active classroom participation improves grades without increasing study time. You can sit there, act bored, daydream, or sleep. Or you can actively listen, think, question, and take notes like someone in charge of their learning experience. Either option costs one class period. However, the former method will require a large degree of additional work outside of class to achieve the same degree of learning the latter provides at one sitting.…

I am a bright person who has a lot to contribute to the class, but this semester, I lacked that confidence. Whenever I would read the assigned readings I would take notes in my books, jot down questions, and make sure that I fully understood the material before going to class. I was always prepared for lectures but I rarely raised my hand. I would just sit back and listen to what everyone was saying. Just because a student is actively participating, I would sit in my seat and actively listen, take notes, and in those 50 minutes I would walk out of class with some of my questions answered, new ideas and lenses to look through the same material with. I have always been a listener, it is one of my strengths as a student, but in a class such as this where participation is vital, I understand where that could be a strength and a weakness. I know my strengths but my weaknesses as a student tend to top that.…
