There are many fascinating stories of places from around the world.   We are a nation of discovery with a wealth of knowledge about virtually every crevice of the world from sea to shining sea.   From the biblical arena, to warring lands, and on to modern day technological advances ''   every country, state, village, and town has a story to tell.   One particularly interesting tale of a nation, whose story deserves to be told, is that of the Middle East.   Since the beginning of recorded history, the people and lands of the Middle East have played a major role in many significant events that have majorly impacted the entire world.
The Middle East has been an active participant in worldly events since the beginning of time.   The Middle East is reference for a collection of countries in West Asia.   It includes Israel, Gaza, West Bank, Jordan, Lebanon, Syria, Egypt, Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates, Oman, Yemen, Bahrain, Qatar, Iraq, Iran, Afghanistan, and Pakistan.   Israel is located at the eastern end of the Mediterranean Sea and occupies all the land from the Jordan River to the Mediterranean ocean, bounded by Egypt in the south, Lebanon in the North, and Jordan in the east.   In biblical times Israel was known as the land of Canaan as well as the Promised Land.   It was called the Promised Land because it was the land that God had promised the descendants of the Hebrew patriarchs Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob.   It was supposed to be a great land, “a land flowing with milk and honey” (e.g., Ex. 3:8).
The beginnings and growth of the Islamic religion were an important part of the Middle Eastern region.   The Islamic religion began with a man named Muhammed who was born in Arabia in the city of Mecca in 570 CE.   Muhammed believed that there was only one god and that he was called Allah.   Muhammed claimed to have visions and receive messages or revelations from Allah.   Muhammed would memorize the messages and teach them to his followers, the Muslims.   Most of the people...
