1. What are the different forms of social media that exist today? Provide examples of different social media and their primary purposes.

Facebook: use to connect with friends by means of status updates, video chat and instant messaging. You can also share your experiences via photo and video uploads and blogging through "Notes".

Twitter: use to send short messages through "tweet" or a direct message to your followers.

Google+: like any other social media sites, G+ is use to connect with your relatives and friends. Hangouts is the best feature of this 4 month-old social networking site --- unlike Facebook's video chat, each hangouts session can hold up to 10 people using video.

2. What are the greatest benefits of social media for individuals and society?

Using Social Media, people around the globe can interact long distantly and virtually. Social Media, also allow people to express their thoughts and ideas through writing blogs and notes. It also allows people to share files such as photos and videos by uploading them. Basically Social Media, as the word "social" connotes, is about interaction. I know it helped me out when my fiancé was deployed with the military he missed our second son birth so I was able to send him a video through Facebook social networking helped me out to make sure my fiancé was safe since the phone lines would always be messed up.

3. What are the greatest problems of social media for individuals and society?
I believe the problems that social media can cause is the amount of privacy you get I hear a lot of people complaining about that but with me I only allow people on my page that I know and I do not say anything on thee that I do not want read. But a lot of people have issues with their pages being hacked but I believe if you watch where you are putting your password and make sure that you are still on Facebook... [continues]
