The four functions of management are planning, organizing. leading, and controlling. There are many factors that have an influence on how each manager chooses to deal with the operation of their organization. To achieve their goals manager have to not only be able to manage all four functions of management but be able to come up with innovative ideas to counteract the internal and external factors and influences. What is diversity? It is the condition of having or being composed of differing elements : variety especially : the inclusion of different types of people (as people of different races or cultures) in a group or organization ("Merriam-Webster", 2013). One of the most important aspect of management is to ensure that people in different parts of the organization work together effectively within the company. Diversity in the workplace is beneficial to both management and the employees and can be influenced by many different internal and external factors. Diversity in the workplace allows companies to draw from all walks of life and use different cultures to inspire new and innovative ideas. Nike is a prime example of a company that uses diversity to its advantage. The Nike company has come up with a diversity and inclusion strategy which focus on three foundational properties: 1.
