Leadership Memo
Mr. Smith,

I would like to thank you for the opportunity to lead the new team in the department. I feel that it will be a great journey and have developed a plan to successfully lead the team. Included in this memo, are details about the individuals that will be a part of the team as well as insight provided on the leadership approach that I will be taking.
Because the members of this team have been with the company for quite some time and are proficient in their individual roles, there should not be much time focused on training or teaching the culture of the company. Sandy Paul has great organization skills and is very trustworthy. I will give her the tasks of managing the finances, budgets for the department, including keeping inventory and ordering supplies as needed. Brian Brown is highly conceptual. I feel that he will do well with any research that may be necessary and also have him be heavily involved in quality control, should any problems or customer complaints come about. Liam Walker has been noted to be very creative and people oriented. He will be best suited for assisting Brian with any necessary research that will be needed on the team. He also provides a high sense of optimism and motivation. I have no doubt that he will be able to help keep the team morale high, even during stressful tasks. Lastly, Courtney Gatier has a drive and natural desire to lead. She will stand as my assistant and run the office in my absence. She is a visionary, and looks for ways to improve her department. She has a low tolerance for incompetency and I feel that she is confident enough to take on this role.

Robbins and Coulter (2012) states that there are seven traits associated with leadership – drive, desire to lead, honesty and integrity, self-confidence, intelligence, job-relevant knowledge and extraversion. In order to effectively lead, I agree and feel

SUMMARY: Our organization is adding a new department for the company’s strategic plan to enter a new market segment. As the manager for the new department for Team A, one must evaluate each team member to include myself. This evaluation should consist of any current situations that may arise, culture, and any urgent matters. To approach this in a sensible manner, one should use any principles or methodology along with any best practices or guidelines that can assist with coming to any decisions that may need to be made. Prior to arriving at any conclusions, meetings will need to take place with current management and the team to assess the plans put forth. These meetings with management should include a brainstorming session, while at the same time provide management the opportunity to critique and analyze any results, and therefore provide any valuable feedback that may come from these meetings. This will help to identify any strengths and weaknesses of the plans that are currently in the developing stage, thus allowing Team A to make the necessary changes to help ease the transitioning of the new department. In today’s world, teams are now becoming an intricate part of many organizations as they begin to shift toward team environments. As organizations shift towards team environments, it provide opportunities for multiple personality types to come together thus increasing the chance for success throughout the company.…

Is it possible that life experiences shape a person into a leader? Personally, my life experiences, both the ups and the downs, have shaped me into the leader that I am and want to further become. Leaders such as John W. Gardner and Coach John Wooden books titled, On Leadership and Wooden On Leadership, respectively have opened my eyes to realize that the path to becoming a leader is not a monolithic journey. However, both Gardner and Wooden stresses that what makes a leader out of those journeys are the characteristics that they acquire to change their lives and the lives of others. Even though each leader’s journey to leadership is incomparable, the characteristics to being an effective leader are shared.…

He has strength because he helps his team out of the situations they face on their journey. By doing that he has to be courageous and not fear anything. If he is scared to face something then he is not courageous. Also, the leader must have intelligence and compassion towards the group. They must be able to think quickly and come up with a solution in case of an emergency. Having compassion means you care about others and put their needs before your own. With these things, that…
