Next, using pages 444-447 in your Leadership textbook, complete the Perceived Leader Integrity Scale (PLIS) as a follower by circling the numbers that best describe your perceptions of a current or former leader's behavior. Follow the scoring directions on page 447 to measure your perceptions of your leader. Then share with your classmates your perception about that leader in terms of his or her Transformational Leadership style and Organizational Effectiveness. (20 points)

PLIS survey results: A score of 31 after reversing the required scores. This score indicates that a past team leader of mine portrayed honesty and integrity to the max, when it came to the performance and well being of our squad. The leader I am portraying through this score would be that of my former SSG, who is now a chief Warrant in the artillery field. In my eyes he was always there for his team and put everyone first no matter the terms and conditions on his own end. He always had an endless foundation of trustworthiness and fair principle. I have, and always will look up to him.

Case 16.2

I believe Joe took a rout that was in his mind the best way to go, even though he most certainly felt remorse when it came to letting go of workers who needed the job. He may not have been as advanced as to knowing he could have kept the employees he had and hire turnaround workers instead. I believe that it would have been worth the risk of newly joining employees to seek potential in themselves to face a challenge that occurred when it came to hiring the turnaround.

It seemed as though the PPI and attorneys weren’t all worried about the moral/ethical standpoint of the situation. As siding with the law, they are not known for being worried about this, but more worried about the suing of Mr. Griffin due to the fact that it would effect them instead of moral action. I believe Mr. Griffin is in the right.

I can understand what Kilts did to turn the company around. However, selling the company to make a profit for himself was not an option that I would have gone for. Many people lost their jobs and were affected by selling off the company to P&G. Especially the 4,000 workers that were from the same area. Having that many unemployed workers does serious damage to the economy and it will be difficult for them to turn things around.…

In this scenario, InterClean, had a plan in place that would assist the sanitation company in increasing its profitability. In doing so, there was a possibility of having to completely restructure the sales teams and marketing strategies that were already in place. The CEO of InterClean, David Spencer, is a middle aged businessman, who remains focused, and is completely driven in his efforts to ensure that this cleaning company increases its growth to become a leader within the sanitation industry. Initially, David and his team proposed a new service focus that entailed being the first within the industry to expand their cleaning company by introducing an all-inclusive service. While this is a great opportunity for growth, a huge concern is that the current sales team at InterClean is not knowledgeable on the current sanitation regulations, based on legal and environmental requirements. Because of this, Janet in HR began to work on screening new sales hires that had existing sales experience, which caused the existing employees to feel threatened for their job security. However, with the company headed in this new direction, mandatory training would take place for all employees, in hopes for boosting morale. As employees began to start rumors about the changes, the morale began to drop and they felt there was no long time employee loyalty.…

The data in this case are the steps Ruth has taken to try to do what Ken told her on the first day. Ruth hired an administrative assistant, made a TV appearance, and she told a customer that she was not authorized to let him charge over $1,000 at het store and he must go to the main store in Denver. After each of these events Mr. Hoffman called Ruth to make her aware he was not happy with her decisions because, the decisions she makes reflects upon him. Part of the problem in this case study is that Hoffman did not mentor or train Ruth nor did he set a clear set of rules to live by. He essentially gave her free rein in the store and then did nothing but criticize her for it. The review of the data helps in the progression of generating some alternatives to use in this case.…

Being in charge of soldiers is a subject that is known oh so very well. In this situation I would feel as if an AAR on my leadership would be necessary. An AAR is an after action review which is a simple option for facilitating anything that has been done even leadership. It works by bringing together a team to discuss a task, event, activity or project, in an open and honest fashion. After an AAR has been completed I would be able to implement the changes that they would request for me to make and see if my workers become more responsive to me. I feel personal power is the most important type simply because Personal Power is internal to you. It is the skill set that earned you that important job title or rank, it is the knowledge you gained studying and training hard to meet all the requirements to fulfill your position. It is the ability to stay cool under pressure, it is the can do mindset. It is having outstanding character, resilience, persistence, patience, and intelligence. Because these things are internal to you, they cannot be taken away from you. Positional power is the act of using the title given to get things done. It is a Squad leader that has 15 soldiers underneath him that he still has to make do things. When you use personal power to get things done the soldiers will be willing and you won’t have to make them do anything. I just faced this situation recently where a SM ranked higher than myself tried to use his rank and position to do things that did not meet regulations. I kept an open mind and simply told him what could be done and his alternatives.…
