Case Study 2 MetalBenders Industries, Inc.
Maria has been running Metal Benders industries ever since she found herself in the CEO position through unfortunate circumstances. Her husband and his brother bought the family business when their father was ready to retire. Steven moved to Texas and left William in charge of the business decisions. After William died in a car accident Maria inherited his position.
Since taking over as CEO Maria has caused several big changes to take place in Metal Benders industries. First off she sees the company as strong knit family because of her Hispanic background. This could potentially make important decisions more difficult as she wouldn’t be able to get rid of someone she views as her own son. Secondly her relationship with Jose has been slowly causing more problems with the internal workings of the company. Jose has new and innovative ideas to push the company into the future, but the more experienced managers are firm in their belief that they are not ready to incorporate Jose’s wild ideas and need to focus on improving what they have right now first.
The business has some obvious major problems such as jobs being done way too slow when having the project finished on time is the second most important thing their customers are looking for. Also they are not professional at all with the way the handle their prices.
Maria has tried to sell the business several times without success. She wants to get out of the business and retire, but the company just is not making enough money right now to give her enough to retire with.

MetalBenders Industries, Inc. is a competitive business in their local industry with many weaknesses, but has great potential to turn these weaknesses into new opportunities. I will explain several examples with a SWOT analysis.
