Metabolism is the set of chemical reactions that happen in the cells of living organisms to sustain life. These processes allow organisms to grow and reproduce, maintain their structures, and respond to their environments. I never thought that people blame their weight on slow metabolism, but this article have changed my opinion on why someone can blame on metabolism I learned that metabolism is linked to weight. Metabolism is the process by which your body changes what you eat and drink into energy The number of calories your body uses to carry out these basic functions is known as your basal metabolic rate, this is what you might call metabolism. Several factors determine your individual basal metabolic rate like Your body size and composition: The bodies of people who are larger or have more muscle burn more calories, even at rest, Your sex; what gender you are play on big role on metabolism; Men usually have less body fat and more muscle than women of the same age and weight, burning more calories. , Your age: As you get older, the amount of muscle tends to decrease and fat accounts for more of your weight, slowing down calorie burning.
