Uses and Application
Menthol mint essential oil is the main source of natural menthol. The dementholised oil (DMO) is reconstituted to produce oil similar to Mentha piperita oil. Many dozens of terpenes present in the essential oil are valuable compounds that find uses in the cosmetic and pharmaceutical industries. Menthol is used as a flavouring agent in mouth‐related produces such as tooth pastes, fresheners, and chewing gums, etc. because of its antimicrobial properties Menthol mint oil enhances the shelf of edible products and grains. Menthol mint oil is an important ingredient of the ointments, lozenges, pain balms, and syrups. It is also used in cosmetic preparations, deodorants, colognes, cosmetics, etc. In India, mint oil and menthol are extensively used in betel (pan) related industries.
