The first occupation I chose to research further as this is something I was considering for myself is Receptionist and Information Clerk. Here the duties of a receptionist is to help others with questions or concerns and to find the answers for them and then to direct them to where they need to be. One must possess good interpersonal skills while providing services with a courteous, professional, and helpful tone. Along with those skills one must also possess good listening skills. Employers generally look for a high school diploma or high school equivalent and some formal training in an office setting or with education. Applicants must also have knowledge in word spreadsheets and word processing software. Some types of agencies that would hire in this particular field are customer service reps such as insurance groups or even utility companies, dispatchers such as fire, police or rescue, and secretaries in a doctors or lawyers office.
The second occupation I was considering is a Social and Human Service Assistants. Here the training would require that the individuals with some education beyond high school such as certificates or an associate’s degree in subjects as human services, gerontology, or social or behavioral sciences. The individuals interested in this field must possess a strong desire to help others, effectively use communication skills, show responsibility, and effectively use time management skills. The tone in this field also must be courteous, professional, and helpful.
