FROM: Amanda Hipolito, Assistant Food Service Manager
SUBJECT: Recommendation for HFIA Meeting Location
The next Hawaii Food Industry Association regional convention should be held at the JW Marriot Ihilani Resort for the following reasons:
• The meeting room at the Ihilani is separate from the hotel for distinction and privacy from hotel guests • The Ihilani is located on the west side of the island, away from the city and traffic • Attendees can choose from 3 different in-hotel restaurants at the Ihilani • A parking garage is provided connecting to the hotel
In response to your request for possible locations to conduct the upcoming HFIA convention, co-workers recommended two hotels to be considered. The JW Marriott Ihilani Hotel located at Ko ‘Olina (www.ihilani.com) and the Royal Hawaiian in Waikiki (www.royal-hawaiian.com).
The Hokulani meeting room at the Ihilani is a separate covered building from the hotel. Thus, providing seclusion and space from the hotel guests and minimal disturbance from outside influences. The room can also be divided into 5 different sections, each at least 2000 square feet for various activities or conference meetings. See Fig. 1 below for Hokulani meeting room floor plan. [pic]

In contrast the Royal Hawaiian’s Monarch room is located on a beachfront area of the hotel on the ground floor. The same floor holds the main lobby, restaurant, terrace area, and entrance to Waikiki beach. This would be cause for distractions and noise while meetings are going on. See Fig. 2 below for ground level floor plan.
