Medical Marijuana

Purpose: My purpose in writing this essay is to research the problems with the legalization of marijuana for medical and non-medical purposes and to propose solutions, so my readers will be convinced that the Government, DEA, and the FDA should legalize marijuana for medical and non-medical purposes.
Audience: This paper should be read by men and women from the ages of 18-70 and is not race specific. The readers should live in the U.S., have at least a high school education and be in the lower middle to upper class, religion is not a factor.
Thesis: Problem-Marijuana is not legalized, despite its many medical benefits, and non-medical benefits.
Solution- The Government, DEA, and FDA should work together to legalize it.
Why isn’t this legal yet?
    What would you do if you were a judge, and a man in his forties came into your courtroom in a wheelchair, and due to a very severe car accident his spinal cord has been badly damaged and because of the damage he can no longer walk and he frequently has painful spasms in his back. He is prescribed to a variety of painkillers but none of them are effective. Would you agree to his use of medical marijuana?
Marijuana is a very effective way to treat a number of diseases and conditions such as: AIDS, Arthritis, Hepatitis C, Glaucoma, Epilepsy, Tourette’s syndrome, Multiple Sclerosis, Muscle spasms, and many more. But, it is illegal in most of the country and its benefits cannot be utilized by patients who are suffering from these conditions. When forming your own opinion on whether or not medical marijuana should be legalized throughout the U.S. you should be sure to take a look at the medical value of marijuana for patients. You would also want to check out the major benefits that it would have on the economy and potentially how much money could be made off of it through taxes.
