Introduction
All organisations rely on the strategic management of three types of resources: structural, organisational and human. Effective and efficient strategic management of these three resources generates a competitive advantage and will improve an organisation’s ability to meet its corporate goals and objectives, and have a positive effect on an organisation’s bottom line. However, without equal consideration of all three resources during the strategy development phase, strategic decisions may fail.

What value will a Human Resources Manager bring to MechCon?
Within MechCon, the strategic management of our structural and organisational resources has seen us move towards achieving our objective of being the leading provider of building services solutions in the nation. However, without including a human resources perspective at the strategy table, we are leaving ourselves vulnerable. We may currently be able to say we deliver the best solutions because we have the best people, but how are we looking at nurturing and developing these resources over the longer term to ensure we can continue to obtain a competitive advantage from them?
