Riyadh is the capitol city of Saudi Arabia. It is the largest city among the three major cities in Saudi Arabia, Dammam,Jeddah and Riyadh . The city is divided into 15 municipal districts, managed by Riyadh Municipality headed by the mayor of Riyadh; the current mayor of Riyadh is Abdul Aziz ibn Ayyaf Al Migrin, appointed in 1998. History of Riyadh should start from the name 'Riyadh'. The name is originated from the Arabic word 'rawdha' which is a plural form. 'Rawdha' is the place where you can find beautiful gardens and trees. Once upon a time in Riyadh there were water courses which have now turned dry. But since ages Riyadh is known for its fertile land situated in the heart of the Arabian Peninsula. The History of Riyadh says that since historic times, the city was splited up into 17 branch municipalities which were ruled under the Riyadh Municipality and the Development Authority is moderated by Prince Salman Bin Abdul Aziz who is the Governor of the province. But the most important question is why should you live in Riyadh?
The old town of Riyadh within the city Walls did exceed an area of 1 square km, therefore there are very few significant architectural remnants of the original walled oasis town of Riyadh exist today. The most prominent is the al-Masmak fort and some parts of the original wall structure with its gate which have been restored and reconstructed. There are also a number of traditional mud-brick houses within these old limits, however they are for the most part dilapidated. Burj Al Mamlakah is the contemporary architecture of Riyadh, it is 99-floor, 300 m (1000 ft) high Kingdom Centre is the tallest skyscraper in Riyadh and the 45th tallest building in the world. The tower is built on 94,230 square meters of land.
