Maya Angelou Queen of our Time

I personal believe that Dr. Maya Angelou is one of the greatest poet, memoirist, novelist, educator, dramatist, producer, actress, historian, filmmaker, and civil rights activist of my grandmother/mothers time, leading to our time.   One of her mosted know piece of work is “I Know Why the Caged Bird Sings”

Angelou has been highly honored for her work, she has motived so many artists and singers.
Bailey and Vivian (Baxter) Johnson gave life to Marguerite Johnson on April 4, 1928 in St. Louis, Missouri. Angelou spent her early years moving back and forth between her mother and grandmother. At age eight, she was raped by her mother's boyfriend.   The event caused Angelou to go mute for nearly six years, and her teens and early twenties were spent as a dancer, filled with isolation and experimentation.   Until her teacher Bertha Flowers helped Maya to talk again and encouraged her interest in literature.   From the years of 1942 to 1952 she dropped out of school to become San Francisco’s first African American cable car conductor,   when that failed she returned to school and become   pregnant with her son   Guy.
