I personal believe that Dr. Maya Angelou is one of the greatest poet, memoirist, novelist, educator, dramatist, producer, actress, historian, filmmaker, and civil rights activist of my grandmother/mothers time, leading to our time. The event caused Angelou to go mute for nearly six years, and her teens and early twenties were spent as a dancer, filled with isolation and experimentation.
