Work Experience
EGS (Accounting Assistant) 2011-2013
During my work in EGS I was given the opportunity to work closely with the Managing Director and was responsible for completing ad hoc reports for the director. I was in charge of providing taxation services which included deducting VAT payment. My role was also to provide taxation consultation services which included calculating the tax and providing advices for reduction in tax. I provided both income and corporate tax services and assisted the company in deciding when to pay tax on time.
Alongside taxation services I was given the duty of handling cash and the daily banking of it as well as cheques. As an accounting assistant I maintained individual accounts for payables and receivables as well as keeping their accounts updated as soon as the payment was received or a payable was paid. I prepared receivable ageing reports every month to make sure receivables are paid on time and if not then to remind them via emails or phone calls.
Bank reconciliation was also one of my duties it involved comparing cashbook with the bank account and to determine if there was any difference, investigating the difference was also one of my roles.
As an ACCA student during my job in EGS I was given the extra responsibility of dealing with complaints, keeping complaint record and other quires. I was also responsible for schedule and daily routines and make appropriate changes where possible for the dynamic environment.
