Let’s face it the world is changing. This change is necessary if we, as a population will succeed, and this change is more evident than ever in the workforce. The working person of the past had skills necessary for a social economy that befitted that generation, but with today's market increasing faster everyday, the worker of our generation will need different skills in order to survive.
My Great Aunt grew up as an independent woman of the baby boomer generation. She was allotted many things based on her skills that she applied to her job, and every single one of those skills helped to shape her work. The skill most needed back then, as she would tell you, are people skills. This includes: talking face to face, meeting potential clients for lunch or drinks, firm handshakes, the ability to personalize any meet and greet. This is best referenced by the charming television hits such as Bewitched, where Darin would meet each prospective client for lunch or at the golf course in order to show his skills at his job. As mentioned before, the times have changed and so have the skills that employers are demanding from their workers.
