1. HISTORY
Cement Industries of Malaysia Berhad has been involved in the manufacturing and distribution of cement and related activities since 1975. The Group effectively combines people skills and technological capabilities to become the third largest cement manufacturer in Malaysia, enjoying approximately 18% of the country's cement market share. The Group also ventures into international markets, such as Singapore, Indonesia and Middle East.

In the Quarrying and Ready mixed Concrete Division, Cimaco Quarry Sdn Bhd provides the required limestone for the Manufacturing Division, whilst Unipati Concrete Sdn Bhd and I-Mix Concrete Sdn Bhd manufacture the ready-mixed concrete for sale in the Peninsular Malaysia. In the meantime, Pemasaran Simen Negara Sdn Bhd as the Trading Division of the Group, co-ordinates customer-oriented services such as the marketing, selling, and distribution of the Group's cement, under the brand names of 'Blue Lion', 'NS Cement', 'Blue Lion Composite Cement' and 'NS Composite Cement'.

The Group is divided into three main divisions comprising Manufacturing, Quarrying and Readymixed Concrete, and Trading. Negeri Sembilan Cement Industries Sdn Bhd leads the Manufacturing Division with its cement plants in Bukit Ketri, Perlis and Bahau, Negeri Sembilan. The two plants combined, make up a total clinker production capacity of 2.8 million tonnes per annum and a total production cement capacity of 3.4 million tonnes per annum, comprising Ordinary Portland Cement ("OPC"), Type II OPC and Masonry Cement and Portland Composite Cement (PCC).

The Group commands a strong market presence with two strategically located plants in the north and south of Peninsular Malaysia. Moreover, its extensively developed distribution networks of marketing offices and packing depots nationwide, further strengthens the Group's standings, given the more efficient means in reaching its customers.

2. CRITICAL DECISION
2.1 MANAGING QUALITY
Quality management is refers to a good quality but rather to ensure that an organization or product is consistent. Quality management can be considered to have three main components. There are quality assurance, quality control and quality improvement. Otherwise, quality is the ability of a product or services to consistently meet or exceed customer expectations. While quality control is a process that measure output relative to a standard and takes corrective action when output does not meet standards. It can be performed during the production process or by checking the quality of finished goods and services. Quality assurances also is component in the quality management that refer to the process and procedures that systematically monitor different aspects of a services that quality standards are being met. Managing quality is achieving the high quality to improve the product and service. The production process must be properly managed to achieve quality standards. Quality management is concerned with controlling activities with the aim of ensuring that products and services are fit for their purpose and meets the specifications. In the Cement Industries of Malaysia Berhad (CIMA), they have a good quality management system. For example is community health and safety. CIMA takes into consideration the comfort of the community around the proportional sites. Ambient noise, dust emission, water quality and other pollutants are regularly and strictly monitored.
