This paper identified a daily problem I face as I grow older. Like most Americans I want to live a long, healthy, and pain free life. Nevertheless, I find that maintaining good health is becoming rather difficult and costly. The challenge today is to find the proper foods healthier and more affordable. When I visit my primary care physician, the emphasis is on “Stop smoking, stop drinking and lose weight.” Although good advice, I have never smoked, I have never consumed alcohol and I am losing weight, rather slowly.
I needed to find the information about losing weight. Weight loss appears to be the one of the common denominators needed to solve most of my problems, but is not a steady process. Oodles of sites with information of to lose weight with various fad diets on the World Wide Web. I had to separate truth from fiction so I visited a registered dietician for helpful advice on managing and hopefully losing this excess weight. Handouts presented to me by the dietitian provided me with a dietary plan that would reduce my weight in a more controlled manner. One of the benefits of lowering my weight is that my ability to exercise will be greatly enhanced because of less weight on my lower joints. This leads to a lower amount of pain in my knees and ankles after exercise. Exercise would be more frequent and for longer periods of time.
