I do believe that corporations and government agencies should offer diversity training. There are server reasons why they should offer this type of training and they are to work better as a team, to teach all the employees about each other’s culture race, and gender, and lastly to help each employee in the company to feel more safe and secure in the work place. I will show why these reasons are so important to a major company or agency. The first reason why companies and agencies should offer training of diversity is because it will help each employee work as a team. I think that if managers learn to work together and go through this training first then it will help them be able to teach this training with less bias against any culture, race, or gender. If every employee can learn that each individual person is different in race, gender, and culture then this can help all employees to work the same as a team.
An example of this that I can think of is when I was in the military. We would all have to go through the same basic training even our superiors; this helped us all know that we needed to work as a team not an individual to get our jobs done. The second reason I see that companies and agencies should offer diversity training is that it can help teach all the employees about each other’s culture, gender, and race. I think that if every employee can get to know one another and about the race, gender and culture of their co-worker then it will make it a little easier to do the job they were hired to do. In this diversity training pairing a different race, gender, or culture together will help both employees understand the other person’s life style better. If employees can learn to see that their co-worker is an equal and not to just see a different race, gender, or culture then the diversity training will work.
An example I have on this reason is when I was in the military we worked off what we called a buddy system. We would use this while on the job and when we would have liberty (which means our off time). We needed to know that if something went wrong we had someone there that would have our backs no matter whether it was a male, female, black or white, and defiantly did not matter their culture back ground. The last reason I can see that companies and agencies should offer the diversity training is because it will give each employee a sense of security and safety in knowing that their co-workers do not judge them for their race, gender, or culture. By giving this training to all the employees that work for these companies and agencies it helps every employee know that they are equal. I know that the United States Military gives something similar to all the service men and woman and it has helped each one understand that no matter what happens whether your male or female, the color of your skin or your race, and no matter what your culture background is that we all are equal in doing our jobs to protect a country we love. I believe if any company or agency will use and understand these three reasons for offering diversity training then the company or agency will succeed in helping their employees work as a team and feel more secure in doing their jobs. If every employee will learn and take knowledge away from the training about how to treat their co-workers then I believe that they will gain a bigger understanding of why they had to go through the training to beginning with. So in closing I believe that this training is very vital to any companies or agencies success in making the business work just as the United States Military has made it successful.
