What is cultural risk

In developing of the multinational business, cultural risks are important management problems which should be faced and solved, multinational corporations must correctly identify the different types of cross-cultural risk, and they should take appropriate risk management strategies and select the appropriate risk control tools, in the end, they need to establish cross-cultural business risk prevention mechanism.

American to Japan

Apple Inc is an American multinational corporation, which designs and markets consumer electronics, computer software, and personal computers. There are many famous products in the company, such as the Macintosh line of computers, the iPod, the iPhone and the iPad. According to the BBC news shows that Apple is one of the largest companies in the world and the most valuable technology company in the world on May 2010. Even Apple having surpassed Microsoft. The online information shows that Apple had 46,600 full time employees and 2,800 temporary full time employees worldwide and had worldwide annual sales of $65.23 billion. For reasons as various as its philosophy of comprehensive aesthetic design to its distinctive advertising campaigns, Apple has established a unique reputation in the consumer electronics industry. If Apple want to become a strong international company in all over the word, then it can not just hold the U.S. Electronic market.

However, Japanese electronics market is a important market of Asia for Apple Inc. Because there are no country has the same size electronics company with Apple Inc in Asian, in addition to Japan. If Apple Inc want to get a greater number of electronic market in Japan, then there are two companies should be solved, Sony and Panasonic.

Apple's major competitor

Sony and Panasonic is a top and second electronic company in japan, and They are the major competitors to Apple Inc. Especially Sony, according to the BBC business news shows that many flagship products of sony snatch japanese and international market with Apple's new products. Different cultures between two counties
Most Americans believe in Christianity, So the management should strengthen control and supervision in U.S. Companies. However, Japanese cultures are affected by Buddhism, Confucianism of China and the local Shinto, japanese believe emphasis on interpersonal trust, loyalty, altruism.

There are 4 main different cultures between Apple Inc and Sony.

The first of all is about Management model, the important model is time control in Japanese company, if the staff is a lower employee in company, then he will work more later, because Japanese believe that the work of subordinates is a part of supervisors. In other words, in Japanese companies, subordinate have to finish their own work after their boss left the company. However, individual heroism is a team spirit in American companies. American prefer to pursuit Heroism and individualism in the company, this spirit reflected in staff level, especially the company's management. everyone will be hardworking in their own position, every staff and manager believe that I am the strongest and best in company.

Secondly, there are many different company cultures and method between two companies. Pragmatism is a criteria and culture for most of U.S. Companies.
