Guideline for MGT 210 Group Project
Section 15 & 16, FALL 2012
Faculty: TqM

Project Theme: Analyzing an organization from the management perspective. The organization must be an established and operational organization and not any fictitious one. The analysis should be carried out by conducting an interview with a manager of the organization.

Chapter 1
1.Organization’s background (when established, mission, vision, goal, functions, etc.).

Universal Foods Ltd. was established in 1990 (please make sure). It actually started as Universal Ltd, a pharmaceuticals company and has licenses for 34 drugs, out of which some of them have been successful capturing big market share. But it really flourished in its food products under the brand name “Tasty”. Tasty Saline is number one in the market of Oral Saline. Universal Foods now has versatile food products and they are extremely confident about the quality of their products. Goal: to become 1st food producers co in bd.

Vision: Ensure quality food for all by striving continually to improve and at the same time grow our business profitably.

2.SWOT analysis of the company.
S: its brand name and unique quality and taste.
W: Not have enough capability to fulfill customers need in summer season. In winter its demand fall, but with other food products it overcome. O: Before some days court has ordered no one can make any tasty saline without this group. so people will have no other choice. T: There came anther entrance shamoli group who started to produce saline and copied our test. But after court decision this threat has been solved. 3.Your manager’s background (both educational and professional), his or her job role within the organization, his/her managerial level, and how many subordinates he/she supervises, and so on. He has completed his B.Sc. Hons’ in Computer Science and Engineering and joined Universal Food Ltd in 2008. His is currently working as the Sales Manager for Dhaka region.

4.What roles does your manager usually perform (i.e. interpersonal, informational, decisional, etc.). Decisional.
A sales manager plays a key role in the success and failure of an organization. He is the one who plays a pivotal role in achieving the sales targets and eventually generates revenue for the organization. •A sales manager must be very clear about his role in the organization. He should know what he is supposed to do at the workplace.  you can delete this. •A sales manager is responsible for meeting the sales targets of the organization through effective planning and budgeting. A sales manager can’t work alone. He needs the support of his sales team where each one contributes in his best possible way and works towards achieving the goals and objectives of the organization. He is the one who sets the targets for the sales executives and other sales representatives. A sales manager must ensure the targets are realistic and achievable.

The duties must not be imposed on anyone, instead should be delegated as per interests and specializations of the individuals. A sales manager must understand who can perform a particular task in the most effective way. It is his role to extract the best out of each employee. A sales manager devises strategies and techniques necessary for achieving the sales targets. He is the one who decides the future course of action for his team members. It is the sales manager’s duty to map potential customers and generate leads for the organization. He should look forward to generating new opportunities for the organization. A sales manager is also responsible for brand promotion. He must make the product popular amongst the consumers. A banner at a wrong place is of no use. Canopies must be placed at strategic locations; hoardings should be installed at important places for the best results. Motivating team members is one of the most important duties of a sales manager.
