Executive Summary

Entrepreneurship is becoming more and more popular in the modern business context. Starting and operating one owns business has becoming an interest area for individuals from different standard of life.

I have completed the major three tasks of the assignment given below. Under task one I defined the term entrepreneur. Also most of the times entrepreneurs who initiate business fail due to lack in essential managerial competencies, therefore under task two I discussed about ten types of essential managerial competencies entrepreneurs must develop to operate a successful business.

Before starting a business entrepreneurs need to focus on opportunities, therefore I proposed a screening framework for entrepreneurs to screen an identified opportunity under task three.

Introduction

Entrepreneurship has become a vital topic in today’s economic environment. Such a developing country like Sri Lanka with the background of social-economic and social -culture must understand the value of entrepreneurship.

As indicated in the assignment starting and operating one owns business has been becoming an interest area and the person who engages in the entrepreneurship requires to understanding how to create and manage a new venture and its risks.
