As I head toward the front door, I hear my dog, Sprinkles, barking with joy. I feel so loved. Without a doubt, a dog makes the best pet. Having a dog provides a family with security and safety while teaching responsibility.
In addition to being man’s best friend, a loyal dog guards, protects, and entertains. First of all, a dog will bark or growl to warn if there is an intruder or stranger. At night, it can use its night vision to spot anything suspicious. It patrols your house to keep you out of danger. A family can sleep peacefully at night knowing that their dog is keeping them safe. Additionally, a dog provides great companionship. Whenever a person feels alone, a dog instinctively shows up to comfort or cuddle. Furthermore, a pet can distract one from stressful matters. A wagging tail and a sloppy “kiss” never fails to bring a smile into one’s face. No family should be without a friendly dog.
Although a dog is a wonderful addition to any family, it does create messes such as chew up things, accidentally going to the bathroom, or getting fleas. Thankfully, these problems can be easily solved, primarily by good training. Fleas are easily controlled by a monthly application of medicine that is purchased at any pet store or vet. While a dog can be expensive to care for, it is well worth it. Dogs give love that can’t be bought. However, an investment is well worth it for all the love you receive in return. The cost of caring for a dog could be afforded by not going to dinner or movies as often. Cooking at home and renting movies is better family time anyway, with the family dog as company.
As well as being a good friend, a dog teaches responsibility. Even though, a dog makes a mess, by cleaning up after it, you will learn to be responsible and care for your pet.
