I think all the writers was focused on the shooting of Malcolm X who was shot by Thomas Hagan. Each writer focused on the victim, the place where the event took place, what the victim was doing in that place and the followers present in the event.
(2.) How has each writer organized the details that have been selected? Bear in mind that most news organizations present what they consider the most important information first and the least important last.
Each writer organized who the victim was, where the event took place, described the place as they saw it, described who the killer of Malcolm X who they were. Another writer explains events in their own way.
(3.) How does each writer interpret Malcolm X, his followers, the gunmen, and the significance of the assassination?
The writers interpret Malcolm X as a black leader who was fighting for his people’s right. One writer said, “he was only hope that blacks have and he was a voice of “black supremacy.”
The followers were shock at what happened and they were outraged, one writer said, “the followers beat one of the gunmen for they wanted revenge.” The follower stated that Malcolm was their only hope and you can depend on him to tell it like it is and to give whitey hell. The writer said the gunmen were black Muslims who killed in revenge because Malcolm X had leaved their groups and didn’t like that fact.Life writer wrote Malcolm X been killed not by whitey, but by members of own race. Writer saw the assassination as significant, because Malcolm X was a leader, a fighter for the right cause, the assassination was a tragedy, but most important he was betrayed and killed by people of his own race.
