Making Good Choices
I am writing this paper on making good choices. My choices of shoplifting have put me in many bad predicaments and this one is by far my biggest lesson that I had to learn. I am a very smart young lady with a promising future sometimes I just let certain things get the best of my personality.Me not thinking wisely has cost me so many things. Making good choices is about thinking about the things that you are about to do before you do it.
Making good choices is all on the person making the choice . Making choices can affect any and everything in your life whether it’s dealing with your family or just everyday situations in life. Everyone in life is faced with good and bad choices that can either have a good outcome on your life or it can make a turn for the worst. Yes, everyone wants to make good choices in life. But does that always happen? Nine times out of ten know. Recently, I made a bad choice that affected my life in numerous ways for instance when I got caught shoplifting I went to jail missed a couple days of school and was looked down upon. I’m very embarrassed of my actions and they are holding me back from so many things such as joining the army I had to retake the math portion of a test so that I could get my diplomia but there’s nothing I can do to erase it . I can only make this a learning experience and make better choices next time around. As teenagers were often expected to make the right choices but we never really evaluate the good and bad in anything. We just do things in the moment then look back after it already has affected us and we wish we would have evaluated the negative and the positives of the decisions we have

I have learnt my lesson. This whole situation has made me realize how serious shoplifting really is and how bad it effects the community. I'm thankful I got the chance to go through the John Howard, Restorative Justice Program. I can ensure you this will never happen again, I can't even descibe how guilty I feel, I never even though it would effect people because so many people do pay and they are making a fair profit but it was never really a topic. The way i effected my community has had an impact on me and I'm going to make things right. Promise.…

I realised that the responsibility of the decisions was mine alone and the fact that I should accept the blame when the decisions back fired with a straight face, at the end of the day maybe I was wrong but even importantly I realised it was ok to mistakes but what was unacceptable was repeating them. At some point in everybody’s life, there comes a time when they have to make a choice and its often a crisis between what they actually want to be and the expectations, peer pressure and lot of other factors .While some do despite all barriers follow what their heart says, some bow down to the pressure that the society and other factors inflict on them and eventually the passion that drove them fizzes out and they become used to a template sort of life. But that was not the sort of life I wanted , following my heart, chasing my dreams with the passion for making them come true being the major motivating factor , I dint want to ever stop trying and get sucked into the conventional life that millions live every day. After years into the future , I did not want to regret about the way I had lived my life or rue about missed chances that I could have taken and changed the course of my life.…

Throughout Hamlet's ordeal, he must interact with many people. Each interaction poses several possible ways to act, because of his obsessive nature, he often chose to sacrifice relationships in order to accomplish other goals and feel better about his situation. Many times, Hamlet could have tried to confront people concerning the way they were acting, but instead chose to ignore their existence, or in more extreme cases, end their existence. I can't stress enough how different the situation could have been had Hamlet not letting his emotions get the best of him.…

Since recently being caught shoplifting I have had to face the consequences for the bad mistake I made. I can't tell you how scared I was and how I felt like a complete idiot and I wish I hadn't done it. Making Moral Decisions

When an incident occurs, people would like to deal with it in the way they prefer. However, there always are some situations that force people to make decisions that are opposite to their own will since people live in society and they need to consider other's opinions. No matter if people realize or not, it is hard to make decisions totally in terms of if they like it or not, because there are many factors which need to take into consideration like moral and ethics and the effect exerted on whole society and other people’s opinion. Both George Orwell and Claire McCarthy faced the dilemma of making a choice between their feelings and other people’s thoughts. In Orwell’s article “Shooting an Elephant”, he describes a poor elephant that destroyed people’s homes and kills a man. The people in town wanted him, as sub-divisional police officer, to kill that elephant. Orwell in fact did not want to kill the elephant but he did because other people wanted him to do and pressured him to make that choice. Claire McCarthy met a similar problem in her article “Dog Lab”. She knew dog lab was an efficient way for students like her to learn knowledge but she was feeling terrible and uncomfortable with killing dogs even though there were some values to do so. People in society approve of dog lab as the way to learn and they have not yet found other methods to substitute it. However, McCarthy believed in terms of morals and ethics she cannot kill an innocent dog. These two authors have no choice because they have to shoulder their responsibility. Orwell killed the elephant because he represented those people who dominate Burma and he needed to satisfy the masses in order to behave like the people in charge. McCarthy killed a dog during the experiment because she needed to well prepared for future operation on her patients. Making a decision is never easy especially when…
