Macintosh (Mac) and personal computers (PCs) are the two most popular and competitive computer platforms in the market today. Their rivalry has sparked an increase in computer efficiency and technology, which produces faster more reliable computers. Their main difference is the type of operating system each platform runs. Mac computers typically run Mac OS, while PCs run Windows (or Linux). Other than their operating systems, Macs and PCs are different in compatibility, security, and cost.
There was once a time that PCs stood alone at the top of the computer market, but now Macs are vastly catching up and in some areas surpassing. Before Macs exploded with popularity, they lacked the ability to run PC software; this was financially due to most software developer’s lack of interest to spend money on a Mac version of their software.
