Mac or PC

Macintosh (Mac) and personal computers (PCs) are the two most popular and competitive computer platforms in the market today. Their rivalry has sparked an increase in computer efficiency and technology, which produces faster more reliable computers. Their main difference is the type of operating system each platform runs. Mac computers typically run Mac OS, while PCs run Windows (or Linux). Other than their operating systems, Macs and PCs are different in compatibility, security, and cost.
There was once a time that PCs stood alone at the top of the computer market, but now Macs are vastly catching up and in some areas surpassing. Before Macs exploded with popularity, they lacked the ability to run PC software; this was financially due to most software developer’s lack of interest to spend money on a Mac version of their software. Times have changed and far more software developers have produced programs specifically for Mac hardware. Additionally, Macs have even progressed as far as being able to run a separate (or parallel) operating system (including Windows), while at the same time, enjoying the ease and comfort of a Mac. However, the reverse isn’t true. Some might say this is a small difference between Mac and PC, yet it can be a deciding factor when searching for a new computer. With a Mac, for example, you can hold a barcode in front of a camera and with Mac library software it will recognize the item as it brings up specific data for that product. You can use this function to categorize CDs, DVDs and books. However, PC still holds the torch when it comes down to gaming and business applications. Business software developers often write it only for Windows because of how common Windows is in your everyday schools and offices.
