Lucknow Mahotsava is an important state annual festival of Uttar Pradesh, celebrated in Lucknow, celebrations takes place between 26th November and 6th December, is a cultural extravaganza.
Lucknow Mahotsava is a celebration of the Awadh culture (the culture of Lucknow of the yesteryears). The festival is organized by the state government and continues for ten days. Colorful processions, traditional dramas, kathak dances in the style of the famous Lucknow gharana, sarangi and sitar recitals along with ghazals, qawalis, and thumri are the prime attractions of this festival.
Mahotsava is organized every year in the month of November / December to showcase the rich cultural heritage of Lucknow. This year, it is organized from 26th November to 6th December, 2012 at Regional Park, Sector-L, Ashiyana Lucknow.
This year it’s an special one as I am going to enjoy the sites of the mohatsava as this year I am going to lucknow mohatsava with my college friends as an part of educational tour set by our college authorities to enrich our knowledge about our vivid culture.
The entry in the mohatsava was allowed after buying an entry ticket from counters which were available near the entry gate of the mohatsava. The entry fees was Rs. 10/- for an individual. The entry tickets to the mahotsava were also available at other places including malls of the city also.
Lucknow Mahotsava is a shopping delight, as craftsmen from various parts of the country gather here to enthrall the audience with their masterpieces. There is a brilliant showcase of the arts, crafts, and above all the heavenly cuisine of this land, the festival in itself is a delight to witness.
