“Let’s go”, he said very enthusiastically
Without paying much attention to where he was taking her she followed him, after less than fifteen minutes of walking she found herself in the middle of a forest surrounded by very tall trees, the weather was icy cold but the beauty of the silky white snow on the trees was like a blanket of warmth as they walked through they were surrounded by towering trees she could hear the swift movement of animals hidden in the lush forest.
She paused “where are you taking me “she asked curiously,
“Trust me you’ll like it Jennifer” he answered and continued walking
They have been walking for a long time and she was getting tired, but soon she could clearly see an open space in the middle of the forest as they got nearer she could make out some familiar shapes then she realised that she has been looking at a deer as she approached it the deer it escaped into the dark forest.
Jennifer looked at him and she noticed how his face was gentle in all right places, his hair framing a face that hugged the bones at the jaw and the wide black eyes that seemed to emanate kindness and humility with perched eyebrows that embraced the brow each time he laughed.
“let’s sit down “
“where ???, on the snow “
“my family owns a house we come here every summer “
The house was small with only two bedrooms a small toilet and a kitchen they sat on the couch talking without realising how late it was. Now days, it is hard to connect or be with the nature, especially if you live in a city. While there are people that interact with the nature every day because of their rural location. The short poem “Traveling through the Dark” by William Stafford, is about a person that encounter a dead deer in the road in the middle of the night. In the story, the narrator have to decide if he would save the unborn deer or just throw the mom deer to the river to save other people that might suffer an accident by encountering the dead body. In the poem, is interesting to see how the narrator, which represent the human world, makes a connection with the natural world by encountering the deer and debating if he/she should do something for the baby deer. Interestingly enough, Stafford give a clear description of the setting, location and time where this is occurring when he mentions, “Traveling through the dark I found a deer dead on the edge…

The outside smelled liked autumn. The wind was gentle. As my friend and I walked, the leaf crunched below our feet. When we reached the park it transformed. One playground became the ice castle. That had snow guard guarding all around the castle. The ponds sparkle from the sun that was surrounding the castle. As for the other playground lit up with fire, from stone to stone. I raced the fire queen to my castle.…

I could hear the blood pumping in my ears, away from the situation, and I started calming my breathing. I headed back to camp, content with trying to forget what I heard. The heavy footsteps of a creature larger than simple game. Almost as though just hiding from me, either to prepare to pounce, or to hide. What bothered me most however, was not that it was seemingly a creature who just wanted to hide, but that it hid. It sounded like a large creature, but a deer would have run, and a wolf would attack, followed by others. What was that? As I reached the campsite, the flames of my fire were softly dancing as though doing a waltz. I checked all of camp, but all the food and supplies I had gathered were gone. I headed back into the woods to the spot where I heard the rustle of leaves. The forest was still unsettlingly still, so I made the point to make my presence be known. I searched for any signs of where my belongings could have ended up. I stumbled upon a skinned deer. With that I knew I was not alone. I searched further, and found the hide on the ground near the river. I lifted it, wondering why any creature would skin a deer just to leave the hide behind not too far…
