This novel is about a group of English boys that have gotten stranded on an island after a plane crash. In the beginning of this story these boys are described as being well-mannered and polite but since they have no rules to keep them civilized some of the boys start to turn savage. Ralph and Jack, the main characters of this book constantly argue about who should be leader and what is more important hunting or getting rescued. Jack takes his hunter group and forms his own group and most of these boys in his group have turned savage. The hunter group kills 2 of the boys by the end of this story which is Simon and Piggy and while they are on the hunt for Ralph, Ralph runs into some people that have came to rescue them.
