Local Baseball Facility

Growing as a person is a very complex process. There can be many factor that affect this process, some beneficial while others undesirable . An important contributor to a person's growth is how they interact with others. People can be influenced by others in both positive and negative ways. My father certainly affected my life. He taught me how to be a hard worker and how to earn what I want. He has also showed me the ethic of self reliance; if I want something, I have to go out and get it. My father is a very hard working man. He is a Corrections Officer at Attica Prison. He works a very tough job for over forty hours each week. He is constantly working overtime in order to make ends meet. Through him, I have learned that earning a living doesn't come easy and requires determination. No one wants to work the hours he does, but it has to be done. This has not just translated to my life in a broad sense, but in specific ways as well. I play baseball and take it very seriously. I am constantly practicing throughout the entire year. During the school year, I work out at my school's fitness center for an hour each day before practicing my skills at the local baseball facility, Pitch 'n Hit, for another ninety minutes. I do this for the whole school year. Academically, I have always had a very high average and have been able to take the necessary time to do my homework and study. I understand what it takes to succeed and am willing to do what it takes to get there. My father has instilled this value in me because of how hard he works. He has also taught me self-reliance; the best way to get a job done properly is to do it yourself. He has shown me through his words and actions how to take care of myself. I have to be the one who earns what I get, whether that be good grades in school, success on the baseball field, or landing a job after college.
