1 INTRODUCTION
In an effort to better understand Cardiomegaly, a case study was put together. The nursing students of: OLFU BSN 3Y1-2 group A has researched a plethora of important treatments, preventions, and managements for cardiomegaly. We also were able to render care to a patient with cardiomegaly and with that, we established rapport. Taking care of this patient, we were able to get first-hand experience on which signs and symptoms to look for along with direct care and management. We chose this particular case because Cardiomegaly was very new to us and it intrigued us. Cardiomegaly is a medical condition where the heart enlarges abnormally. Usually caused by high blood pressure or coronary disease, Cardiomegaly causes the heart to pump blood in an abnormal state leading to congestive heart failure. The heart enlarges in response to damage to the heart muscle. Up to a point, enlargement permits the heart to continue to pump blood normally. As enlargement progresses the heart's pumping ability declines. In our case study, you will learn the different types of Cardiomegaly and the signs and symptoms of patient “X”. 2 PATIENT PROFILE
