Fade IN:

(1) EXT. ARCADIA NATIONAL PARK – DAY

An older jeep type vehicle is driving on the winding road across the mountain ridges. We follow from a distance while the credits display in the lower left. The trees are lush and there is a summer breeze.

(2) EXT. GAS STATION – LATE IN THE DAY

The jeep arrives at the gas station, and 20 year old Mike steps out. He stops, adjust his hat and heads into the store.

(3) INT. GAS STATION

As he enters the doors a bell rings. He looks around and wonders over to the cashier.

MIKE
I'm looking for Dale?

Dale
Your talking to him. You must be Mike, your Dad told me a lot about you.

Mike
Yeah. Its all lies
(Smiles)

DALE
(Laughs) Joker like your Dad I see. So what all did he tell you about this job.

Mike
Gas Station Attendant for the Night Shift.

DALE
He didn't tell you did he? Recently there have campers going missing. It seems someone or something has been kidnapping them. The police haven't been able to find anything. Johnny's the only one who ever escaped claimed it was some evil creature, but he's gone insane after what happened. They say this creature roams the woods every night looking for his next victim, and you'll be right here in the center of it.

Mike looks a little freaked out, wide eyed staring at Dale.

DALE
I'm just messing with you son, their ain't no evil creatures out there.

Mike
I see you've got jokes too

Dale
What can I say I like to keep the mood light. Now in all seriousness. There are a few things you need to know. This Road you got here (Points to Map) on spans over 60 miles through the national park. Across those 60 miles there is only one Gas Station and that's us smack dab in the middle. That's why we are open 24/7 so people don't run out of gas and get stuck. Now you heard about that big casino they are building in Pine Hill?

Mike
Yeah its going to be freakin huge.

Dale
Exactly and they need a ton of contractors half of which are coming from Wheatly. And you know what the fastest route to get there is?

Mike
Through the national park. Yeah but I shouldn't be seeing to many of them. I mean they get off at 5. I don't start till 7.

Dale
No, you see they have to finish the Casino before winter so they are working around the clock in staggered shifts. You will be busy all night.

Mike
What? The whole reason I wanted the night shift was lack of people.

Dale
Look, I'm not stupid son I know your dad's forcing you to be here. But this job is important and even more so at night, these people rely on us to be open. Beside the night shift is the best. People are usually less in a hurry, nice, and you'll get to know some of the regulars real well. Oh also make sure there's plenty of coffee; we'll make way more money off that then the gas. Alright lets do the tour.

(4) EXT. Gas Station - Sunset

They walk around to the outside windows.

DALE
Now the whole building has storm shutters all around it. They're real easy to use. All you do is pull out the pin here at the top, pull down the shutter and pin it here at the bottom. You will probably have to use these at some point as way up here we get some nasty winds during a storm. So keep an eye on the weather. That tv by the register has satellite so just make sure you check in every now and then, its channel 88 it written on the tv.

Mike
So pull down the shutters for a regular storm?

Dale
Well obviously if its just sprinkling you don't need to pull them down. But if you see a thunder storm coming and they say high winds you betcha. Alright lets go look at the pumps.

They walk over to the pumps

CAMERA PULLS OUT

(5) INT. GAS STATION – NIGHT

Dale
Well that covers everything here are the keys. If you forget something there is a user manual under the register. Just remember take care of the place and make sure all the people are...
