-The Essential Lewis and Clark(Lewis and Clark Expedition) by Landon Y. Jones -Meriwether Lewis and a dozen men left Pittsburgh on August 31,1803, in a fifty-five-foot masted keelboat and floated down the Ohio river. They stopped at Clarksville, Indian Territory, to pick up William Clark and more men. On May 14, Clark left Camp Dubois with perhaps forty-two men in the keelboat and two dugout canoes and proceeded up the river to St.Charles to rendezvous with Lewis, who had been making departure arrangments in St.Louis. The Voyage of Discovery was underway. http://www.amazon.com/Essential-Lewis-Clark-Expedition/dp/0060011599/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&s=books&qid=1274196432&sr=8-1
