Hollywood Fl, 33019 esaputo@att.net Dear Eric, My name is Freddy Dijor and I am one of your fellow students in your EN1320 Composition 1 course. I am always early to class because I am eager to learn as much as humanely possible. What bothers me the most is when my fellow students that pay thousands of dollars to go to this school and they end up just slacking off and doing the minimum required. I just don’t understand them and why they don’t care if they end up in debt and without any knowledge by the end of the course. However all that being said, English is my weak point and I hope to change that during this class. I am not sure what you skill level in English Composite 1 is but I still have a lot to learn and I hope I am able to learn from our teacher. With that in mind and as I told the teacher a goal that I have set is to strengthen my writing skills upon completion of this course. However my number 1 goal is to get an A+ in the course and I will do whatever it takes to accomplish that goal. You will learn a lot about me as being my fellow classmate but one thing that you will see stand out the most is when I set my mind to something I go over and beyond to accomplish that mind set. My expectations coincide with my goals; I presume that the course will clarify the individual structures for the various forms of writing. I’m expecting to gain skills from the teacher in order to become a more skilled writer, with an improved understanding of English Composite. I have hopes that the course will touch upon my interest and build my skill level for future assignments and endeavors involving the world of English. There aren’t really many requests that come to mind, since attending the course I have noticed that you are a very intelligent, team player that will come in handy with this class. I feel that I can not only learn form you but

After a year of focused work in English 250, I feel that I have developed the skill to articulate what I want to convey to the reader in multiple ways. My strengths as a reader have also definitely improved after reading the material we had this semester. We discussed several different aspects of the English language and spent a good amount of time this semester perfecting our ability to write rhetorical analyses. Doing so allowed us to focus a lot of our time on the WOVE method of communication and become better communicators.…

I now feel, after being a student of this class, being successful in business or school requires the ability to organize, arrange, and compose thoughts into a logical format. Without these skills it is impossible to communicate thoughts and emotions grammatically. Reflecting on the past three months, I notice that our English 1A class has learned skills necessary to develop personal, informative, and persuasive essays. These are essential points needed to become successful in today's society. In previous English courses that I have participated in, I never realized that essay-writing skills were so important. Because of this class, my attitude toward writing has matured into an understanding of what it takes to be a good writer. Without the knowledge of why writing skills were important, I was concerned about "just getting by". Now, I enjoy the challenge of composing an interesting and thought provoking essay. I find myself developing an essay with my reader in mind, and thinking what might stimulate them to read my work. This class has developed my senses and stimulated my curiosity in the literary world and I feel I have made significant progress in my writing process. The most important of which being how, by the proper use of commas, transitions, and supportive quotes, I transform my average essay into a well composed, interesting literary work, well at least I think it’s interesting.…

Every Monday, Wednesday, and Friday I trudge up two flights of stairs with the wind whipping at my face as my fingers feverishly click out the final text message I need to send before class starts. I walk into the warm, musty computer lab and sit at my usual spot with the view of the library through the tree limbs. I am always sure to come to English class because I know of my terrible history in this subject area. I have always struggled with English and before this semester had assumed that the college level class would be the death of me. As I read over the syllabus for this class it states that we will learn to understand writing assignments as a series of tasks and develop flexible strategies for generating, revising, editing, and proof-reading the assigned papers. I shuddered at the sheer thought of having to write five papers. Narrative, Evaluation, Profile, Position. These words might as well have been written in another language because I had no idea how to differentiate between them. Despite my fears, I believe this semester’s English 101 course has truly helped me develop my writing skills and advance to a more capable writer.…

This class has taught me many things about myself along with many necessary skills needed while writing. I know now that, through hard work and determination, I can achieve what I might think to be impossible. While reflecting back on my initial writing abilities, I see the weak, uneducated style of writing. Each essay shows my progression and improvement, and, after a while, the class began to become much easier. Today, after practicing throughout my essays this semester, I believe that I, in fact, have…

This journal will be reflecting on my experiences from the past two years of high school English. There were quite a few parts of the curriculum that interested me and units of study that I enjoyed. Within those two years, I have learnt what learning strategies and what methods of planning have and haven’t worked for me. Based on what I learnt about my abilities in English in grade 9 and 10, I have made goals that I’d like to reach by the end of this semester.…
