Lemongrass (Cymbopogon flexuosus) essential oil in clear glass vial
Lemongrass is native to India and tropical Asia. It is widely used as an herb in Asian cuisine. It has a subtle citrus flavor and can be dried and powdered, or used fresh. Lemongrass is commonly used in teas, soups, and curries. It is also suitable for poultry, fish, beef, and seafood. It is often used as a tea in African countries such as Togo and the Democratic Republic of the Congo and Latin American countries such as Mexico. Lemongrass oil is used as a pesticide and a preservative. Research shows that lemongrass oil has anti-fungal properties.Despite its ability to repel insects, its oil is commonly utilized as a "lure" to attract honey bees. "Lemongrass works conveniently as well as the pheromone created by the honeybee's nasonov gland, also known as attractant pheromones. Because of this, lemongrass oil can be used as a lure when trapping swarms or attempting to draw the attention of hived bees."

Therefore it's assumed that its origin is from Indonesia. The principal chemical

The isolation of eugenol from cloves is isolated from ground cloves using the technique of steam distillation, which is often used to isolate liquid natural products from plants. Essential oils are also used to produce flavoring, fragrance, and cleaning products. The compounds found in the essential oil of cloves are eugenol, eugenol acetate, and B-caryophyllene. Smaller amounts of compounds found in the essential oil of cloves are hydrocarbons, alcohol, phenol, ether, aldehyde, ketone, acid, and ester. Essential oils are volatile and have an odor. Essential oils are often flammable, soluble in alcohol and ether but partially soluble in water. The technique used was steam distillation. The steam distillation technique was used because it lowers the pressure in the flask so that it does not have to be heated at such a high temperature. High temperatures could possibly decompose organic compounds.…

Duckweed feed has been found to be a very nutritious feed source for many types of livestock. The fact that duckweed can be fed to animals in its wet form or dried for a more concentrated food source make an efficient, cost effective, harvester a possible attractive product for this market. Traditional Harvesters are economically unfeasible and manual harvesting is very labor intensive for medium to large scale operations. Feed prices can vary drastically due to crop yields, gas prices, and product demand. After the initial investment of the Proskimmer the costs for producing this feed additive would be minimal. There is opportunity for duckweed to be used more as a feed source in coming years to alleviate increasing demand on corn and soy yields.…

Source: Leihana C. TaguiamAbstract:Fungi are one-celled organisms that cause discomfort and health risks in living organisms. The purpose of this study is to control the growth of fungal pathogens. Aspergillus flavus, Penicillum specie and Curvularia specie. By using pure extract of lemon grass (Cymbopogon citratus), Aloe Vera (Aloe barbadensis Miller) and 50/50 combination of both. The study focuses in determining which of the three treatments will inhibit specific fungi. After being tested and identified which among of the three treatments is the best, we suggested using it as an additive in cosmetics and medicine.In-vitro testing comprised the methods of identifying the anti-fungal property of the treatments. From the collection of plant samples to reading and analyzing of data, fungus growth took for four days then the treatment assignment was conducted. The fungi must have similar growth rate to have accurate results. Results showed that pure extract of Lemon grass (Cymbopogon citratus) is the only treatment that controls the growth of Aspergillus flavus. The two other treatments failed to inhibit all three fungal pathogens. Pure extract of Lemon grass (Cymbopogon citratus) can be used as an additive to some cosmetics and medicine because of its anti-fungal property against Aspergillus flavus. Adjustments of concentrations should be conducted upon Aloe Vera (Aloe barbadensis Miller) to prove the effectiveness and to test its suitability as a moisturizer. Further experimentation may also identify the active component of Lemon Grass (Cymbopogon citratus) that makes it as an anti-fungal against Aspergillus flavus. Future researchers can use the pure Lemon grass extract (Cymbopogon citratus) as an additive to cosmetics and develop this to…

Skye Brannon wrote fireweed in 2009. The story is written chronically, is in past tense and it starts like many others of its kind in media res. It doesn’t contain many descriptions about the environment but is never the less pretty detailed. It’s a short story about a young man named Balula. It only covers this one-day were we follow Balula in his work, and these flashbacks that he keeps having the whole story. The main theme of the story is how war have an effect on those who have effected by it, and how it have had terrible consequences for so many minds and bodies. So in short the main theme is memories.…
