A. While talking to parents it is most important to show them the benefit of play. Especially the first five years of a child’s future determines success later in life. Play is spontaneous, child directed, suspended in reality and self-motivated. Play and literacy are linked closely in numerous research studies. Based on such research, play is considered to be the best way to learn if it supported. Play makes child an active it can be scaffold to fit all developmental levels, like cognitive development, emotional and social development. It develops the team spirit, and passions, fighting spirit. It can be environmental supported, includes social and physical experiences, differs among children, can develop a very positive disposition towards the literacy. Quality play can meet all developmental domains.
There is no more constructive activity than play. Play allows a young child to be “in charge”. Play helps children learn about the world in which they live. They can investigate and discover, test their theories, spatial relationship, explore cause and effect, social roles and family values.
Play builds self-esteem, social skills. Playing with other children will build this foundation as they learn to share, take turns, assert themselves and begin to empathies with others. Play helps language developments. Finally, don’t forget to consider the importance of stimulating your child’s creativity and imagination. So the play is also a part of learning.
Q. Plan an activity based lesson using any of the four skills i.e. listening, speaking, reading and writing. Specify the age group for which the lesson is applicable and specify why you chose that lesson for that particular age group.
