Learning Styles Essay There are many learning styles, but social attracts me the best because my better grades reflect off learning verbally. Verbal communication helps me as long as its not a lecture, but a group discussion. Learning new styles with pictures or diagrams is a another style I enjoy as long as we talk about the picture/diagram. I can understand long lectures if the teacher has the outline of the notes on the board as he talks about the lesson. My english high school instructor’s teaching style is social with many different methods that benefited my grades. An effective strategy to enhance my learning in social is asking a bunch of questions. The learning style verbal is the one that I would prefer if I wanted to get better grades. My learning style is social because I can understand communication through many different methods. Diagrams and pictures help if on the side the teacher is on the side explaining what each represent. One on one talks help alittle but I tend to lose my train of thought, but group discussions on the other hand tend to help a lot because you can hear different opinions and different sides of each topic. I can follow on the board lectures if what is being lectured also has an outline of the notes written on the board. Social was the teaching style that my english instructor in high school thought was the best way to get the information nailed in your brain. In the class we read many books, in fact after every chapter that were assigned the next day in class would be completely dedicated to discussing and understanding the reading. Usually each book that was read we would also watch the movie, and after the day of discussion we would watch the chapter in the movie to get a better social/visual understanding. Another thing my teacher did was the famous music Monday in which the music could vary from country all the way to rap, and after hearing the song we would discuss the lyrics and the real meaning behind them. There are different ways to enhance social learning, but the one the tends to help the most is asking lots of questions. How I learned it was helped by one of my previous teachers would give points to the amount of logical questions you ask, with wanting to get the points I was also getting answers that I understood. Earlier saying that in class group discussions helped, but group discussions after class also was a big way to enhance my learning because all that was being talked about in class is reiterated in a group after class. Lastly, drawing what is being talked about is helpful when talking about vocab because when talking about it socially that picture of what it represents pops in my head. Out of all the learning styles, the one that sticks out the most is learning socially. Determining what your learning style is clutch because you can use it to your benefit in future use. Looking back on some of my teachers in previous years is important to remember what learning style they taught with. Finding strategies that can help you improve your learning is key to enhancing your knowledge. Social learning is the best strategy for me even if it involves different ways to teach socially.

We are faced with many different learning experiences. Some of these experiences have made a better impact than others. We can attribute this to our learning style. A person’s learning style is the method through which they gain information about their environment. Research is going on all over the world to help explain learning styles. To me, it is our responsibility to learn about these different learning styles so we can appeal to every type of learner in our world. Howard Gardner has elaborated on the concept of learning style through what he calls “multiple intelligence’s” (Gardner 3). Understanding this intelligence’s will help us to design our learning environment and curriculum in a way that will appeal to all people. We may even be able to curb negative behavior by reaching people in a different way. Learning styles can also help us to determine possible career paths so we can help to steer children in the right direction. Discovering our own learning styles can potentially maximize our own information processing and teaching techniques.…

Though I scored higher in Musical/Rhythmic, my preferred learning style is intrapersonal which was my second highest score. The major characteristics of my preferred learning style are learning best when working alone and only depending on oneself to to get things done. The learning style I scored highest in musical/rhythmic describes my personal preferences, but does not apply to my academic and professional preferences. Academically and professional my learning style of intrapersonal describes me more accurately. After being given instructions either verbally or I writing, I prefer to work alone to get the task or tasks completed. I am able to work effectively in a team, but my prefer to do things alone so that I know they are being done correctly versus depending on the accuracy of others.…

Contrary to my smarter measure assessment of being social learner, learning strategies that are somewhat solitary such as recite, rehearse and write work well for my learning style. I’ve learned that when I write something down more than once I tend to remember it better verses listening or learning in a group where I tend not to take in the information as well. Frankly I disagree with the assessment and think when it comes to my learning it may be off. However in everyday life I am a very social person.…

This exercise has taught me a lot on my way of thinking, concentrating, and contact with people. I never knew that these learning styles determine how I perceive my everyday functions. Until now I always thought of myself being a Visual learner, I have to see it in order to understand it. I am a see it, to believe it type of woman. After taking the self-test and reviewing the chart, my way of thinking is much broader. I do all three of the learning styles. I had to sit back and say; am I weird? Am I just able to learn, all different Ways.…

Learning styles theory originated in the 1970’s and is based around the idea that people have preferences about how they like to learn. Theorists believe that each individual has a particular learning style that is best suited to them and allows them to collect and process information successfully in order to learn. The principle idea is that these learning style differ from one individual to the next and theorists argue that school teachers should incorporate these learning styles into their lessons so that student is catered for and everyone can learn effectively. Many educationalists believe that differences in learning styles are responsible for some student difficulties, for example, if a student is taught…

There are eight learning styles I have evaluated this week, I will speak upon three of them; Verbal-Linguistic, Interpersonal, and Intrapersonal. Verbal-Linguistic helps to analyze our own use of verbal communication, learning, teaching, recalling terms easily, and explaining, using wit, and compelling someone to do something. Interpersonal helps to see things from others standpoints, communicating verbally, and nonverbally and cooperating within a group. Intrapersonal learning technique helps one to recognize self in relation to others, evaluate each way of…

Learning styles can be defined as a preferred mode(s) an individual uses to gain knowledge. Dr. David A. Sousa an international consultant in educational neuroscience, identified three learning styles predominate in most classrooms. The first identified learning style is auditory. Pupils learn best by hearing the information. These students excel in the traditional lecture hall setting; tape reorders and discussion are also popular educational aides with this group. The second learning style is visual. Visual learners absorb information best by the use of symbols, bright colors, charts, graphs, and diagrams. Like Dr. Temple Grandin, an…

Well if I’m being honest, taking this class I thought it be an easy A. I never thought that I would learn about learning styles. Just figured everybody had his or her own way of learning. It’s weird to me that I have two types of learning styles that best suits me. Theses two styles got a 75% for me on the quiz we took they were intrapersonal and interpersonal. Seeing how I study and how I am as a person. It makes sense to see me having both styles. Not really to sure which side gets the better results as far as studying goes. It may just depend on what mood I’m in. For being almost identical words they’re completely different. One is about being alone and about self-motivation in a quiet environment as I’m doing now. The other is talking and working in groups giving and receive each other’s feedback. Which is 100% true when it comes to my life. Life’s too short to end situations on bad notes, so I try to carry my self in a talking out manner.…
